HP Scanjet 5590

I have a HP Scanjet 5590 that I've been using for years. I upgraded to Snow and now the computer says "Scanner not found" when I try to scan.

According to the HP website, if it was working before it will work after the Snow upgrade - well, it's not. They warned not to use the old driver install software if your installing for the first time, but to wait until their updated driver comes out late October.

Does anyone know how to get this up and running other than having to try to do a new install once their updated driver comes out?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.1)
