When will i5 and i7 Quad Core iMacs actually be shipped?

I ordered the new iMac 27" Quad Core i7 yesterday. I am so excited to start using it in place of my iMac G5. My order says it will be shipped in "November" but the new optional Apple Remote is showing as being shipped "November 23" (is that a hint?) Does anyone have a clearer understanding of the likely ship date for the Quad Care iMacs. I am guessing that the delay is due to Apple not yet having a supply of these particular i5 & i7 Intel chips, are they being used currently in any other Macs? I don't think so. If you have any thoughts/info, I'd love to here from you.

I just called Apple. My iMac 27 i7 won't be shipped before Christmas or in 2009 (ordered Nov. 16, 2009). The 27 inches i7 is back ordered even if the web site says two weeks delivery. I asked if Apple was considering giving a compensation such as a free AppleCare for every customer that had to wait more than the delay shown on the site when the computer was ordered. The answer was there won't be no compensation offered.

I really don get it, why but why doesn't apple give a reason for these delays?
If they have problems with the hardware why not tell us what is wrong? I mean I really don't think they delay all these computers for fun there must be a reason!?
I do believe that this event will diminish the good name they had, because I am myself very very disappointed by this. I have no hope of getting my machine before 2010 it will be 3 months then and if I read then that apple will not do a thing to compensate for this, well next week I'll contact a person here who will be joining me with a letter to the consumer organisation. this is simply no way of doing business.
If I have to do a photoshoot and don't leave my clients waiting for two or maybe three months, I think there would be no more clients anymore!

well my laptop's problem shows up again, and this is the only computer I got now, so I'm back to internet on my phone and tv set. This means during the xmas holidays I won't be able to do the work I'm supposed to do (I work at an office but do some independant work next to that).

I counted on the 'end of november' delivery with an extra month (xmas holidays) as a fair buffer to get the new imac. Now I'm gonna have to tell people to wait for their ordered work. And a lot of it has a deadline, in a job where every work's deadline is yesterday I can't afford to tell people just to wait for it... I'm gonna lose a lot of work and money that way.

And complaining works, I can tell from my brother's friend little 'adventure' with Apple. He got a 21inch mac which seems to have inferiour colors on screen compared to the 24inch (don't know the exact background but it should be a hardware reason). He started emailing the highest persons in the apple company in Belgium, with the threat to go to the media (esp Testaankoop), and he got a 24inch replacement, without paying a single cent extra.

well I was in contact today with a friend whose wife works in favor of testaankoop. the problem is complicated since apple is not a belgian company i was told and technically the full responsibility goes to the shop from which we ordered the imacs. we all know that actually the delay has nothing to do with the resellers.
the question is: does it worth to go into all this bureaucracy, loosing time and for what? to punish the resellers?
i am also very angry with all this thing but there are only 2 options. either wait or cancel our orders and buy something else.
