Magic Mouse swipe stopped working

Everything else works fine - zoom, scroll, etc.. Two finger swipe worked great yesterday for navigation. Just stopped working today. And, yes, I did check that Swipe is enabled in Mouse Preferences.
I did installed couple of new SW since yesterday ( iWorks, Skype.. ) so wondering if it's SW issue or HW defect?

Anyone else had the same problem?

PS - I did called support number , but they put me on hold forever.....

Here's the fix: (Courtesy of the Apple Support Rep I just got off the phone with).. I'ts simple and I'm embarrassed I even called and didn't think of it myself.

Delete the following preference file:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

Reboot.. and Viola! Swipe is working again.

NOTE: This will reset the Keyboard and mouse preferences.

Enjoy! and happy Mac-ing

That's not really a question for this thread, but here are the full system requirements:

* Mac computer with Bluetooth wireless technology
* Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
* Existing keyboard and mouse for setup
* Two AA batteries (included)

same happened to me.

Swipe is not working right now. Couldn't be bothered to reboot yet to see if that brings back the functionality.

Shame really, as I am missing the middle / side buttons on my mighty mouse, but was happy to trade that in for the forward / back swipe.

Im not too fussed, though, as I am sure that the magic mouse is only the beginning of what it will be capable of doing, and that a simple software tweak or two will solve this in time.

Also got the choppy performance in Safari as reported elsewhere..... fingers crossed that this is all fixable ! .... every time I cannot resist being an early adopter 🙂

By way of a small update....

A reboot did NOT fix it. I am surprised. It does look like my '2 finger swipe' functionality on the magic mouse is no more !

Rationally, this must be a software issue - as the one finger scrolling still works.

I remain confident that this will be swiftly rectified by Apple, but a bit disappointing that things seem ever so slightly flaky on the new iMacs.

They will probably find that the installer tells them that they do not need this software. This is spoken of in the Apple website for the Magic Mouse as a requirement to operate the Magic Mouse when purchased separately;
System Requirements
Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
Existing keyboard and mouse for setup

This should already be installed on new Macs that are shipping with this mouse.

But I hope that in fact I am wrong and that this does help the issue.

The SMC reset mentioned in my earlier post had worked only once for me. The problem returned the following day and applying the SMC reset again did not fix it 😟

The temporary solution on MacBooks Pro with dual GPUs is to swith between them when the finger swiping on both the touchpad and the Magic Mouse stops working.

Anyone out there experiencing the same behaviour on iMacs or is it limited to just MacBooks Pro?

Today I receive the Magic Mouse from delivery, and then pair it to my MB and also install the latest Wireless Mouse update. Then I find the two finger swipe function not work in iPhoto, Preview. I had phoned Apple support for help, they seems no idea why this happen too. Finally the most Magic thing happen that it work again after I reboot the Mac for the 3rd time (1st time auto-reboot after install the update, 2nd time I reboot myself before phone the support, 3rd time reboot after the supporting person ask me to do so). It's really Magic!!!!! ****!!!
