Yellow tinge from bottom to top of the screen, 27" iMac

My 27" is showing a yellow tinge when viewing on the bottom of the screen compared to the top?
This makes color corrections on my photos impossible. Anyone else has this problem? You can easily
see it on white or grey background (even in finder windows)

Have been waiting for the 'right time' to purchase. My conclusion from reading all the postings from all the thoughtful and informed people, is that there is no such thing as the perfect screen available today within the price point that Apple is marketing the iMac. That many have had multiple replacements, illustrate the point. I am convinced that all the screen have yellow tinge, some more than others (even the $899 LED CM display exhibit some color variation).

There are so many variables to consider. Starting with the tint of LED, even within the same bin. I do not know what the matching tolerance the maker of the screen accepts (within the price point for the given screen supplied to Apple) and how many LEDs are used in the back light, the temperature variation of different segments of the screen depending on the underlying components, the angle of view both horizontal and vertical, the reflectivity of the screen etc..

So my choices are either to accept the current status or to wait, and for how long, for improvement in screen technology at the price point that I am willing to pay. Different people have different level of acceptance or tolerance.

Apple should have leveled with us from the beginning and not raised expectations to unrealistic level.

I did a copy & paste of the guy on Mac Rumors. It was a crooked picture, although his screen looks good, it is not perfect. You guys be the Judge! I'm just playing the Devil's Advocate here.

This looks as good as anything else on the market...
Personally I think that this forum thread has gone way out touch.

It is interesting to note that most "responders" to this thread either don't own iMac, or they just "trolling" around (;

BTW: Against all odds and predictions, my (4 months old i7) iMac is still PERFECT 🙂

Hi Dino. No I did not accept the upgrade to a 27 inch model or refund or replacement of the panel for that matter. There are to many people here that still get yellow screens, new ones or new screens. I don't want to take that risk.
I believe that Apple will change nothing on this generation imacs. Maybe at the end of the year...?
So I decided to keep mine and wait for a software fix (if there will be one ever...). I did ask the lady in Ireland to give me a fair payment compensation, because I have a imperfect screen. Of course she refused and offered me help with the for me only one option left: screen replacement (pick up and return).
BTW, I did some experimenting on calibration etc. IMO, the Adobe RGB profile provides the least yellow.

Oh god,

I have been waiting, and waiting and waiting for making the purchase.

I am used to read this, and the former fickering thread everyday trying to see when to make the purchase, but I got tired reading since no fix was coming.

But, I now want an update from Dino for example 🙂.

I understand that the flickering issue is long gone!

BUT the yellowing is still affecting the panels, right?
So is there ANY improvements at all or is as bad as it's used to be?

I'm just wondering since i've been waitng 3 months since i canceled my order.

Thanks

Yea, don't you love how people just jump in here for the first post & make false accusations. I'm going to go so far as to say the people who are posting they just got their new iMac & the Screen is perfect are Trolls as well. I've dared quite a few to Do my Grey Bar Copy & Paste Test & I never heard back from them again. I guess that's one way to get rid of them. 🙂

excuse me, but I've been following that thread for a long time, and that's not my first post here... I'm one of those who'd rather stay quiet, but when I read your post about Apple light in store, I just couldn't resist...
I understand that light might be different than your home/basement light, but it has always been like that, right?
Dino, I really appreciate your contribution to this thread, but please don't call me Troll - I'm better than that! 🙂 And I've seen your post when you jumped on people who think they have perfect screen, saying that they don't... Big deal - let them think that they have perfect screen!

I apologize. But I don't like being accused of saying that it is a conspiracy or Apple is playing games. And if we don't point out that people do not have perfect screens, who will? I'm sorry but there are no so called perfect screens. How is this thread suppose to be helpful if a bunch of people claim to have perfect screens & they won't even post a picture, and we accept their screens as perfect. It's misleading to the people who are looking for answers. So I say it again, if you have a perfect screen prove it! I'd love nothing more than for this to be solved, but after all the time & effort we put into this thread, I'm not about to turn this thread into a fantasy, with misinformation. If you think you have a perfect screen & you don't intend to prove it, then PLEASE don't post here. I'm sorry once again. But I will stick to my guns on this thread until I see with my own eyes Perfect Screens. I'm sorry, I'm not taking anybody's word for it. I'm like the guy from Missouri, you gotta' Show Me! 🙂

J-G, I wish I could give you great news. But I can't. If you buy now you still run the risk of a not having a perfect screen. If your not that fussy or particular & you can deal with that, than give it a try. Don't be swayed by the people who claim their screens are perfect, but don't care to show us proof. That's like me telling you I own a Lamborghini , when I don't. I'm trying to keep this thread as honest as I can. This thread is here to inform & help, not to mislead people. I'm a realist. I don't see any imperfections on my screen. But when I put the Grey Bar test up I do. So that tells me my screen has a color variation problem, but is not noticeable. So I Keep my iMac. But do I claim I have a perfect screen? No! Fortunately the Grey Bar Copy & Paste method tells the truth. That is of course, if you want to face the truth.

The day has finally come. Seemed almost forever when I placed my order for my "new" 27 Refurb iMac i5.

Today 2 things will happen.

1. I will receive my iMac i5. Hopefully without any damage, issues, dead pixels etc
2. Shear utter disappointment of not having the perfect screen, "ultimate" my apologies.

However, if Steve J's puppy decided to tinkle on my display, and I see his mark in Safari, Finder etc... Apple CS will definitely be hearing from me today.

Dino... Appreciate all the efforts.

Hello to all.

As you recall I am waiting my 2nd iMac replacement. Apple said they would take my replacement iMac and run various test on it to make sure I have "the best iMac possible".

Well I finally get a call today to say it is on the way. But here's the thing. It's was picked up in China. Did Apple even lay their hands on it to test it? Do they have a testing facility there?

I am in doubt about this whole testing the iMac thing.

I went to pick my iMac 2 months ago. I knew I have to test it in store, so I did it. It was yellow as ****. Then after a few weeks I've got a call to pick a new iMac from new batch. I've opened the first one it was yellow, the same with the second one. The third one looked ok so I took it home. Then I've realised that this one was also yellow but I didn't see it in store. Today I went to see another one, I didn't even have to remove foil to know it's yellow. The last one was produced on 24.02.10. I don't belive that apple did anything to fix the problem. I've seen 5 iMacs and they all were bad. My advice to anyone don't buy it.
