Yellow tinge from bottom to top of the screen, 27" iMac

My 27" is showing a yellow tinge when viewing on the bottom of the screen compared to the top?
This makes color corrections on my photos impossible. Anyone else has this problem? You can easily
see it on white or grey background (even in finder windows)

I ordered my iMac (i5 processor) on march 5th. It arrived today straight from China, and lo and behold! yellow tinting is still there -- bottom of screen, and vertically on right half of screen.

This is my second 27″ iMac with this problem.

Apple, I thought you had resolved this issue. What’s going on???

Regards,

Disappointed customer.

Wow, that screen actually looks perfect to me I would have been very happy with it. If I hadn't jumped ship after recieving so many messed up iMacs.

I have now gone the route of two Dell U2410's... and no more iMac's 😟 Now, Hopefully Tuesday Apple will release a new Quad-Core MacPro that isn't so over priced!! If not Dell here I come...

(wishful thinking)

Yes that may be a true statement, but tell that to the thousands of people who have Yellow marks on their brand new "Ultimate" Displays. I disagree. It's advertised as the best screen yet. I guess the definition of an Ultimate Display is one that does not have color conformity from side to side or top to bottom. Is that it? That's YOUR opinion. Just like MY Opinion. IMO, it's not acceptable, unless the person that buys it considers it acceptable. It's their money & therefore their decision. I'm not here to cause trouble. But facts are facts. What is acceptable to you may not be acceptable to a thousand people posting & going through an exchange 3-5 times, receiving one worse than the other. I know a lot of you people want to see this thread die, But it won't, until Apple starts shipping "acceptable" as you might call them, Screens. I consider MY screen acceptable! Although not perfect, it's acceptable to me. I can't see a Color Discrepancy whenever I use the iMac. But if I put the Grey Bars up, I see a difference from top to bottom & side to side. But I love my iMac. That's why since we started this thread, my true test is, If you can't see any problem full screen in your Browser, then It's A Keeper. People who have your so called Perfect Screens need to Stop trying to convince people with REAL problems, to accept their screens.

Hello All,

Well I performed the test from http://imac.squeaked.com/test.php and I have the yellow tinge on my i5 iMac I received earlier this morning. It's pretty obvious as I am writing this post. The top of the display is a lot "cooler" than the bottom of the display.

So as I proceeded to test the iSight camera, notice a "red" pixel when covering the iSight with a black paper. I used various blacks to cover and the "red pixel" is in the same location.

The Apple Senior Engineer informed me that my iMac is one which has the supposed updated panel. As mentioned here, he informed me that Apple continues to receive calls about the yellow tinge.

I have an appointment to replace my display @ 1:15PM today. Wish me luck. I will post an update as soon as I return with my new display.

Thanks,

BB

Then don't test it. Look at the screen & see if you like it! If you like it, your OK, right? I'm not twisting anyone's arm to do the test. And this is not to you Marter, but I'm getting too much opposition on here. I was the one trying to help. That's all. I know a lot of you would like me to bow out of these threads. Again, my intention was not to cause trouble. I did not start this thread.

Everyone,

I have posted pictures of my display taken from a Canon SD550. Please excuse the reflections... I would like peoples opinion of how much YELLOW is there, before I have teen techs at the Apple Store replace my screen 🙂

Dino what do you think? Supposedly this is the new revision of the panel, which I currently have.

Bennie, the Question is what do you think? Do you see any problems surfing full screen in Safari. If not, It's a keeper. But I posted an edited version of your photo copying & pasting the bottom bar right underneath the top bar. This way you can get a better perspective. I'm going to sit this one out & ask everyone else. Your photo was hard being the reflection on Right.

Dino,

I see the yellow on the bottom bar. In Safari I can see it... But let me ask you this? From what you see, would you keep it?

I honestly don't want to lug this thing down through a mall. The iSight for sure has dead pixels. The store does have two new replacement displays... but again, do I take the risk of a teenage "Genius" to open my Mac and quite possibly cause more issues?

Would you consider this a keeper? Do you see the yellow? Does anyone else?

Can you close your blinds that are reflecting light on your screen.
Yes apple and I quote "Now with the ultimate display"

"LEDbacklighting.
When a display has more pixels, you need to push more light through them to achieve the best picture possible. LED backlighting in the new iMac does exactly that, with remarkable brightness and efficiency. Because the LED backlight doesn’t take up much space, the iMac enclosure stays thin — even with all the high-performance components inside.

Higher resolution.
The new 21.5-inch iMac features 1920-by-1080 HD resolution. Apple engineers could simply have stretched that resolution up and out for the 27-inch iMac. Instead, they took the display well beyond HD with 2560-by-1440 resolution. That’s 78 percent more pixels than the 21.5-inch iMac.

IPS technology.
The iMac display is designed to look great from almost any angle. A technology called in-plane switching (IPS) makes this possible. Whether you’re sitting in front of the display or standing off to the side, you’ll get a perfect picture with superb colour consistency and no loss of detail."

Take note of the very last line, Yes I expect an excellent screen with "no" yellow.
