Bluetooth Not Available

This morning I turned on my PowerBook G4 12" and my wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard didn't work. I couldn't seem to get a connection? I looked at the Bluetooth icon and saw there was a line through it. I clicked on it and the message I got was "Bluetooth not available". I rebooted and this hasn't helped. I've looked at help on my mac, and found nothing, and I can't find anything specific in the FAQs on the support site. I've checked software update and there's nothing to download, so I assume I have the latest firmware. Can anyone help?

Hi Sarah,

What kind of bluetooth device are you using on your Powerbook to connect with the Keyboard & Mouse?

If its USB make sure its plugged in correctly, also some USB bluetooth devices dont work too well if used in a USB hub, try it directly in your powerbooks USB port.

I pressume your keyboard & mouse have batteries to power them, try removing them for a few minutes than replace them.

Also read the "Read this before posting" in this section.

Hope this helps

Hi Sarah,
good to here that the same thing happend to you too. Can report about the same issue today and can´t find any help neither in sys help nor on the apple site. Bluetooth hardware is builtin. I have the system completely updated (OS 10.3.5) that means for bluetooth: v1.5 / 1 .5.1. As for buetooth devices I currently use a SonyEricson T610 fone. Even if it lays near and is tuned in the x-ed out bluetooth icon stays the same. Anly comment will be apreciated.
Cheers,
Sebastian

hi Sarah, I just logged in to the discussion board to see if I was the only one who had this weird Bluetooth hardware not present error/problem which has NEVER happened before. So, as I can see from the list, you and I are definitely not alone, but I am wondering as to what triggered it. I had not done anything unusual nor made any changes to my machine or software.

Hi I ugraded to Bluetooth 1.5 and System 10.3.5 a couple of days ago. All else well till then , but I now cannot connect to my Sony Ericsson mobile anymore. I can connect briefly during the set-up till the step where the phone recognises the G4 and vice- versa, but when I move to the next step in the set- up protocol ( for example, choose iSync and then click next) the phone say 'Bluetooth connection lost' and the Bluetooth icon on the G4 goes back to the disconnected state-- although the setup says "congratultions, you are now connected etc'.
Any help will be much appreciated
Vijay

My new 20inch imac G5 was delivered a couple of days ago. I set up the wireless keyboard and mouse. last night the icon was gray with the wavy line.
I could not get it back. I shut it down and this time it appeared. Today I started it up and no sign of bluetooth again. There is not a bluetooth icon in the system preferences and the icon in the menu bar is still gray.
Anybody else had problems with the G5 I cannot take out a battery and have tried restarting it three or four times.
Help !

I recently bought a bluetooth enabled T- Mobile Sony Ericcsson T630 and also a USB bluetooth adapter to access the internet. Unfortunately, i am having issues. It keeps aborting during the set-up process, so i am unable to connect to the internet, although I can run iSync successfully with the address book and iCal. I have signed up to a monthly data plan via GPRS, but can not find the relevant modem script in the bluetooth setup assistant.
