Bluetooth Not Available

This morning I turned on my PowerBook G4 12" and my wireless mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard didn't work. I couldn't seem to get a connection? I looked at the Bluetooth icon and saw there was a line through it. I clicked on it and the message I got was "Bluetooth not available". I rebooted and this hasn't helped. I've looked at help on my mac, and found nothing, and I can't find anything specific in the FAQs on the support site. I've checked software update and there's nothing to download, so I assume I have the latest firmware. Can anyone help?

Hi Brian,

Glad to here you got it sorted. Most if not almost all BT mobile manufacturers only provide support for PC only, and it's down to good people like Ross Barkman to provide Mac support. Apple do provide a little themselves but I guess it's too much to expect them to keep up with the ever increasing number of makes and models that are bombarding the market these days.

Cheers

I've had bluetooth problems too on my 17" PB. I called AppleCare (last July) and this is the procedure that works. I keep this as a TextEdit file in my Documents folder for reference in the future.

Bluetooth not working 7/20/2004
Apple 17" Powerbook

re-setting Power Management procedure
1. Shutdown computer
2. Press Shift-Ctrl-Option all at once then press the Power button once
3. Wait 30 seconds
4. Power up computer

have same problem as above in posts. re-plugging BT dongle helps to activate BT dongle.

will the solution above help to solve the problem in a long run or will have to do it every so often?
tried the BT firmware 1.5 update but it doesnt seem to update anything, no confirmation, after so called update got option to quit or update, when clicked on update it shows warning message if i want to quit without updating BT firmware...and if i click on update i could go in endless circles...

will repair permissions and will c how it goes with firmware update.

going back to USb dongle...mate of mine got imac g4, and he never had to do anything, his BT dongle always available and working after powering up mac or rebooting. no problem at all.

maybe it does count what BT make u have ???

I was hoping that 10.3.7 will solve the problem of Bluetooth: Not Available.
No success. Alt the tricks in this topic and Bluetooth Solution topic does not helped. My internal Bluetooth is not working. DLink USB BT working without problems. It seems it is something wrong with three USB buses available on my PB 12 867. Sometimes this unnamed USB Device is on one bus, next boot on another. Apple please do something!!!
