interface error: 5 the connection is not stable

Maybe, maybe *Toast 10.0.6(560)* was issued to fix the many issues between SnowLeopard and Roxio.

I've bought another pack of blank DVD's so will give this latest aversion a try later today.

Have had the same problem. Switched to Verbatim + DVD discs and so far so good.

Same problem here. Changing to Verbatim +R disc is not a solution. I bought a iMac with an all kind of DVD burner, not DVD+R only burner

mac midiguy, let us know how it goes with version 10.0.6 (which was just released yesterday). It looks like it's supposed to fix the VIDEO_TS error problem but they make no mention of it fixing the "interface error: 5" issue with the internal GA11N drive.

I tried Toast 10.0.6 today, and it does NOT resolve this problem. I am still unable to burn VIDEO_TS DVD's to a DVD-R disc using Toast.

However, my earlier solution of using toast to make a disc image and then burning the disc image to a DVD-R disc using Apple's Disk Utility program still works.

Thanks for running a test because i just ran out of time to go to Staples and purchase a 50 pack of DVD's.

I've moved back to burning my DVD Video_TS by using DVDRemaster or DVD2One which use the apple's Disk Utility services plus i use the DVD RW's just in case but so far Apple's Disk Utility seems work with out burn failures i get with Toast.. Too bad the double layer disks don't come in RW format or at least i can't find them here in Canada.

For now if i really need Toast I've gone back to Toast .04 as suggested in one of the posts above. Wish i could remember the guys name to give him credit for his suggestion.

I too find that the Toast 10.0.6 update DOES NOT fix the 'Interface error 5.....' problem using OS 10.6.2 and the internal GA11N (JA18 firmware) burner.

Using the OS 10.6.2 Disk Utility for a DMG produced by Toast 10.0.6 the GA11N works fine for DVD +/-R.

The external burner (OWC Mercury Pro) also works fine using Toast 10.0.6 and OS 10.6.2 for all DVD media that I have tried (Verbatim, TDK, Sony, Maxell).

I have also discovered that my external FW burner ( LG model that can burn DVD-RAM disks ) has no problem with any version of Toast or other burner software.

I think these internal burners have some factory defect or the software/firmware needs finetuning by Apple or both. Too bad Apple is not more forthright in accepting the problem and issuing a recall on these Toyota made hard drives.

I now have the 'Interface Error 5' which I do not get with my 24in Intel or my 20in iSight.. definitely a HARDWARE problem!!!
I am tired with dealing with Apple and their poor service !!!

Finally! OS 10.6.3 and Toast 10.0.6 now appear to work together without the 'Interface error 5..." I have tried Maxell, TDK and Verbatim media and all burn properly with the GA11N internal DVD.

I am getting this error on a brand-spanking new MacBook Pro 17". Just got it a few weeks ago. Also, I have the latest version of Toast 10.0.7 (563).

Specifically "interface error -32030 connection not stable"
