27" iMac hard drive noise

I just picked up a 27" iMac with the 1 T HD. I can hear the hard drive any time the computer is "working". Took the first one back to the Apple store and exchanged it, thinking I had a defective machine. The replacement makes the same noise.
Anyone else having this issue? Are these things supposed to be this noisy?

i thought there might be easier way to establish the manufacturer to avoid keep driving to the store back and forth.

Report the problem to Apple support and ensure this is logged as hard drive fault.

In my view you should return and ask for a replacement

I just talked to SG, they say that this sound is not good bet it's not a big problem.
I take my iMac to apple store and asked for replacemant.
They need to contact me soon.

Your recording sounds like any normal hard drive. I have built numerous PC boxes and the hard drive all have some noise.

phoned them up and complained - they said to take it to apple shop but its miles away and I do not have a car so someones coming to collect it - fingers crossed

ive just brought a 27" imac 1TB and it's dead silent,. got my ext HD plugged in also,. but i dont and havn't heard a sound at any stage with mine,.had it for a week,.

Yep it is that easy 🙂 As I said in my post there is one specific model it does not. The solution is still simple ... return your iMac for a replacement drive other than a Seagate. Problem solved.

Also, I do have a Seagate HD...and oddly enough... has stopped for the past hour or so.....this could be good!

besides the bothering noise, which is, in my case, pretty loud,
do we risk any other thing?
I mean: is the noise a sympthom of something more serious that may occur onward?
