iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found - QTCF error popup - can't open iTunes

Hi, whenever I try to open iTunes I also get this message:

iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlane could not be located in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll

I've tried uninstalling iTunes then reisntalling, uninstalling Quicktime, rebooted and I still get the same problem. I also moved QTCF.dll into iTunes. Still get the same error. I also tried a system restore, and I STILL get the same error.

I tried removing everything and turing off my antivirus and I still get this message and my iTunes does not work. Also when the message comes on it will not go away until I re-start my system. Any help out there on this???

Thanks.

I had the problem also where the QTCF file was only found in QuickTime and not under system32. The error message popped up after computer start up and would not be deleted even with Task Manager, and my iTunes would not start, so I uninstalled QuickTime and reinstalled it like you suggested, and my iTunes popped up. Everything is working perfectly again! Thanks so much!!

I finally found it in QTSystem (C:Program Files (x86)\Quick Time)

No, that's the correct one in a standard QuickTime installation, Wis. Leave that one alone for the moment.

Could you give us a quick summary of what you've tried to date? (There's a few different threads on this one, and I don't know which one you've seen. So I'm not sure what ground you've covered.)

I'm really hoping you can help me! I'm banging my head against a brick wall because the above error message keeps on popping up whenever I try to open iTunes.

I've uninstalled both iTunes and Quicktime and then reinstalled but to no avail. I then tried locating the QTCF.dll and adding an x, like I'd seen mentioned in another forum and still nothing.

I then searched and located the QTCF.dll file - the one in C:\WINDOWS\system32 and tried to delete that but it said that: Cannot delete QTCF: Access denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write-protected and that the disk is not currently in use.

I'm seriously at my wits end and I'm no computer genius either. Can you please help me, as I really need iTunes to sync my iPhone.

Many thanks!

Try dragging it out to the desktop first, melody. Are you able to get iTunes launching now?

If you can, try rebooting the PC and then deleting the file. Does that work, or do you get the deletion error message again?

To repeat others, Thank you thank you B Noir for your patience and easy to follow instructions!

I too had this common problem (QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlane could not be located in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll).

After a thorough, complete search of both my drives the only .dll files found were in QT. I did not delete these.

Continuing the instructions/suggestions, I opted to delete QT only as I'm a bit gun shy about losing my iTunes library. I deleted QT, restarted my system, reinstalled QT, and CONGRATS! No more pop-up. iTunes works fine now.

Thank you.

I also had this problem, I uninstalled, then reinstalled, and it does not work. After a little investigation, I found a solution. The code QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyForPlane is a code in the QTCF.dll file. The current QTCF.dll in C:\Program FIles\iTunes does not have the string. I'll tell you how to fix it.

If you check it yourself, and open the old QTCF.dll file in iTunes folder with notepad PRECAUTIOUSLY, 'cuz you wouldn't wanna mess up the system file. Scroll down and you don;t see a text that says QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyForPlane. I'll give you advise.

First, download a new QTCF.dll here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/375629551/qtcf.dll.html
and store it where you cen find it easily. Open the DLL file with notepad WITH CAUTION! Scroll down and you'll see strings and codes. Search each line until you see QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyForPlane. If you find it, close it.

Now move the file to the iTunes folder and replace the old file, and you're done! Now open iTunes and it works well again!
