iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found - QTCF error popup - can't open iTunes

Hi, whenever I try to open iTunes I also get this message:

iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlane could not be located in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll

I've tried uninstalling iTunes then reisntalling, uninstalling Quicktime, rebooted and I still get the same problem. I also moved QTCF.dll into iTunes. Still get the same error. I also tried a system restore, and I STILL get the same error.

I tried removing everything and turing off my antivirus and I still get this message and my iTunes does not work. Also when the message comes on it will not go away until I re-start my system. Any help out there on this???

Thanks.

🙂 Thank you kindly, rebelchanel. (I'll pass on some of the kudos, though ... someone else over at the QuickTime for Windows forum discovered that there was a lurking QTCF.dll down in the system32 on most affected systems. I've just been taking things from there by way of refining/developing the troubleshooting advice.)

I had pretty much the same problem, I solved it by deleting the old QTCF.dll file and then repairing iTunes and Quicktime from the Control Panel.

If you're stuck on the error loop try opening up task manager and going to processes and manually ending the itunes.exe process.

Hi b noir, I created an account just to thank you for the information you posted on how to solve this QTCF error. Thank you so much, I hope there are more people like you to help people like me with errors like these.

People who are still stuck with this problem, basically do a complete search including hidden folders for 'QTCF.dll' by using the search function and then clicking on advanced options to enable searching in hidden folders. You'll probably find a copy of this 'QTCF.dll' in both a quicktime folder and in the system32 folder. Simply destroy the copy in the system32 folder and the problem is solved. Ctrl AltDel and use task manager to end the itunes process to stop the error message from endlessly getting into your face if needed.

🙂 Thank you Tim. That's very kind of you.

Thanks also for the additional heads-up and instructions about ending the iTunes.exe process. (Perhaps that's something new with the iTunes 9.0.3.15 variations of this? I saw TheBushybrows mention it too, but can't recall seeing it reported before that with the iTunes 9.0.2.25 variations.)

Hi everyone, I joined this forum specifically because I am experiencing this problem. There does seem to be a consensus regarding the solution, but unfortunately it's rather lost on me - because the System32 folder doesn't have the QTCF.dll file for me to delete. There is a QTCF.dll file in C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem. Should I delete that?

Hey!

I'm having this same problem too. When I did the search for QTCF.dll or whatever only one thing came up and I deleted it and tried to open itunes again. Then a new message came up saying that there was no QTCF.dll found and I needed to reinstall it. So I restored it from the recycle bin.

How can I fix this problem!!! I cannot open itunes, and I can't uninstall itunes either because the popup pops up when I click to uninstall it as well!

This is soooooooooooo annoying cause my itunes was fine but then it randomly disappeared and I have no idea why, so i had to re download it and thats when all of these problems started.
