iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found - QTCF error popup - can't open iTunes

Hi, whenever I try to open iTunes I also get this message:

iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlane could not be located in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll

I've tried uninstalling iTunes then reisntalling, uninstalling Quicktime, rebooted and I still get the same problem. I also moved QTCF.dll into iTunes. Still get the same error. I also tried a system restore, and I STILL get the same error.

I tried removing everything and turing off my antivirus and I still get this message and my iTunes does not work. Also when the message comes on it will not go away until I re-start my system. Any help out there on this???

Thanks.

Hi. Whenever I try to open my iTunes this is what I get:
The procedure entry point_CFRunLoopGetWindowsQueueMask could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreFoundation.dll
I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, and I also attempted to download quicktime alone, but quicktime wouldn't download either. Help?

Hi I noticed your post as I have just recently started having issues with Itunes and not even trying to update it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck so i followed what you posted and I have the QTCF.dll file in 2 locations:C:\Windows\System32 and also in C:\program files\quicktime\QTS... any help is great and if you could email me directly to justhatguy1130@gmail.com

I'm having this problem and searched (Vista search function with "Everwhere" selected), but only one QTCF.dll file was found, in folder QTSystem (C:\Program Files\QuickTime).

That's in the right location, so you were quite right not to delete that one.

Doublechecking something. On a Vista box, when I search for a file like that, I open "Computer" and type QTCF.dll in the Search box. When it tells me I can't find it, I click Advanced, select the "search hidden, non-indexed and system files (may be slow)" box, and then wait for an eternity until the green progress bar up on the top of the "Computer" window has completely disappeared.

Did you do that? (Just doublechecking to make sure the search actually completed for you ... I've seen an incomplete search catch out someone with misplaced QTCF.dlls before in this way.)

I tried it and it's all right, It annoys me long.

Hi,

When I try to open iTunes, this message shows up:

iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point _CFRunLoopGetWindowsMessageQueueMask could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreFoundation.dll
(plus a follow-up:)
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
Error 7 (Windows error 127)

I've tried the following, so far:
1) Uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, rebooting (several times, still doesn't work)
2) Searching for the "QTCF.dll", including non-indexed, hidden and system files and updating Vista before searching again and waiting (patiently) for each search to finish each time... but only ONE file is found at: Program Files > Quicktime > QTSystem. And I understand, based on other posts, that this is the correct one. So i didn't do much about it.

I miss my iTunes. I am hoping someone could help.
Many thanks.

Hi everyone and thanks for all your answers.

As I am on a 64bit Windows 7 the solution was slightly different for me.

I went into C:\ Typed in QTCF.dll. I then clicked custom at the bottom and added all of C;\'s folders to the index. Instead of finding the QTCF.dll in the system32 I found it in windows/sysWOW64/QTCF.dll.

I delete the file and it was working. Can't beleive it took me 2 hours to figure that out lol!
