Bluetooth Mouse - Suggestions?

I'm looking for a multi-button BT mouse that will work perfectly with my PowerBook. My top candidate is Macally's BTmouseJR for price and how Macally has given me reliable good products in the past. Any suggestions or support for my decision?

Exposé is that neat window organizing thing built into your OS. F9, F10, F11 are the default keys to trigger it. In the Exposé preference pane you can assign the functions to mouse buttons without the drivers. Kensington Mouseworks is a mouse configuring app along with USB Overdrive which can configure USB peripherals with extra functions. I'm pretty sure third party apps and Exposé can configure the MX900. I do not own one but I think it's been done.

I'm beginning to wonder if there are any great bluetooth mice out there... or bluetooth headsets... or perhaps bluetooth itself is a defunct technology.

I've tried 3 bluetooth mice since I've had my powerbook:
--The Mouse BT
--Bluetake BT500
--Apple wireless mouse

The best of the three was the bluetake, but it wasn't great. Also, the left button stopped clicking in less than a week, so I sent it back for a refund. But while it worked, it worked the best.

The Mouse BT felt like I was tracking through tar, and the build quality just felt overall cheap. The only thing I liked about it other than the somewhat similar to Apple's design (it is NOT anywhere as nice looking as Apple's wireless mouse nor does it feel anywhere near as solid) was the smooth scroll wheel. I received a refund for this as well (and to dvforge's credit, they were very accomodating about it).

Apple's wireless mouse also feels as if it's tracking through mud. It's useable though. It's the only one I still have. It moves smoothly when I'm moving it quickly, but when I slow down to be more exact, it refuses to move the cursor.

All I want is a bluetooth mouse that works as well as my RF wireless mice on my PC. Is that unreasonable? I'm beginning to think it is.

As I said with headsets, I've had two of those (both bluetooth of course). Again, they work but it's one of those "it barely works" kinda thing.

The only bluetooth thing that works well to me is the bluetooth browsing of my phone, and that could have something to do with my not knowing what to expect as to speeds with it. It just works, and that's enough for me.

"I don't know why Apple doesn't just make its own 2-button wheel mouse. EVERYBODY uses one!"

ERMD
Apple doesn't make a regular mouse.
It’s against their business model.
Use the control key when using the mouse, it gives you the right click.
and not everybody uses one- I know a lot of people who use the apple mice.
me.
I will be changing - when I see one that looks like it matches my iMac and works well.

Hello alex.....

I'd kill to be able to program BT buttons(have the Bluetake BT500 and the Iogear) what exactly do you mean
<you can only configure the buttons with Exposé, unless you use a third party app like USB Overdrive. >???

configure what and how with w expose?
I have USB Overdrive, but i thought it did not yet support bluetooth.

Any enlightment would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Edward

You can configure your mouse buttons for use with Exposé. This is done by going into your Exposé prefs and selecting the trigger. I have no first hand experience (sorry) with using USB Overdrive to configure BT mouse but I think it can be done.

Without a 3rd party app Exposé is the only thing I know that can configure the extra buttons.
