I'm looking for a multi-button BT mouse that will work perfectly with my PowerBook. My top candidate is Macally's BTmouseJR for price and how Macally has given me reliable good products in the past. Any suggestions or support for my decision?

For future reference does anyone know if there are any Canadian retailers for BT mice that sell under 90$ (and have the good characteristics of the mice mentioned here)?? It would be good for a friend of mine who is just got a Logitech mouse and isnt satisfied.
I noticed that www.iogear.com and www.macally.com will ship internationaly.
My question to all... I'm between these 2 mice... I choose these 2 because they both have chargers built in, very nice feature to have I'd think... so which is better?
Macally BT Micro @ $50usd
vs
ioGear BT Mini Mouse @ 70usd
any opinions?

I just ordered the Iogear BT Mini Mouse through the University of Calgary Micro Store today. It is currently out of stock, but should arrive in a week or two, and I'll be happy to post my impressions when I get it. Best of all, the price was a very reasonable $57 CDN (including GST).
It appears the Macally BT Micro uses a cradle recharger, which to me seems much less appealing than a built-in recharger. While I'm a little apprehensive about the feel of the Iogear mouse (it is rather long and skinny), it is a clear winner in the portability department (the recharger USB cable is the only extra you need when you're on the go).

Can it be charged without the cable? Looks good, same height as a 15" PB. Means it could fit in a Matias Laptop Armour case. Somehow I like the Iogear better, not sure why.
I'm very interested in hearing about your findings with this Iogear Bluetooth Mouse. Right now it's the choice i'm leaning towards, the usb cable for recharging instead of the cradle is a nice idea for little extra space saving. And I'm jellous... I'm guessing that $57 is a student only price.
I have the MX900 but find it too slow to use. I replaced the MX700 with it a while ago but had to go back to it. I haven't use the 900 for months so I thought I'd try it again (since I'm updated OSX many times I thought something might have improved).
I have both the 700 and 900 hooked up right now. The 700 is about 4 times faster (I'm guessing of course) in moving the cursor from one edge of the screen to the other.
I tried a utility that accelerated the 900. Actually did a good job so it was usable but I found it was responsible for lots of crashes I was having so I deleted it. A reliable machine is more important...
Any trick required to get it to be more responsive?
Cheers

Yes there is.
System Prefs>Keyboard & Mouse>Mouse>Tracking Speed
Move the slider towards fast.
Somewhere along those lines I am probably wrong as I own a PowerBook and it's a bit different. Hope it helped.

Thanks. I'm aware of the prefs setting and have it set on full speed. Still way too slow for my liking...
I should also mention that I have the RadTec BT500 mouse that I use with my powerbook G4. It works well and is much more responsive than the Logitech. Only problem is it is so small that I only use it when I travel (which is a lot) but not for home desktop use...

I'm still waiting for my IoGear mouse to arrive, so I can't give any personal comments yet. Meanwhile, I came across this small review on the IoGear mouse at MacNN:

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would like it to go with my new white iMac after I put in a new midplane apple sent me to get rid of it's noise.

In regards to your question we do not carry a 4-button Bluetooth mouse
because Apple currently does not support button programming on their mice.
We are currently working on a solution, however there is no timetable as of
yet.
We appreciate your inquiry. If you have any further questions please feel
free to contact me at the number below. Thank you for your time.

A bluetooth 4-button mouse, haven't come across one. Although there is the Logitech MX900 you can only configure the buttons with Exposé, unless you use a third party app like USB Overdrive. Might I suggest a Kensington trackball? The Expert Mouse and wireless version have 4 buttons and a scroll wheel (ring). All configurable via their software I believe..

Hi I'm looking into getting a Powerbook for college and a BT mouse with it. My question is if I have get a mouse with a dock, like the Logitech BT900, would be able to set the mouse to work with the laptop which I was on the go and then work with my PC via the docking station while I was in my dorm.
The dock is compatible with Windows PC only. So what you're talking about maybe doable, the only think I'm unsure of is the pairing when at home. If you have both your PC and your Mac open, side by side, and paired with the BT mouse, wich one will be paired first? In fact, maybe you'll have to repair is every time you need to change wich computer you use.
Might want to stay clear of the Kensington Pilotmouse Mini.
Mine works fine sometimes then depending on what I am running on the PowerBook the tracking goes to crap, stuttering all over the place and is not useable at all.
I love the feel of the mouse and have no problems assigning the 3 buttons without installing the Kensingston software, which I will not have a bluetooth device that requires additional software, kinda defeats the purpose dont ya think...

This happens with my little Targus BT mouse too. Perhaps this is an issue with the earlier Aluminum PowerBooks and third party BT mice? I have done all the recommended OS and firmware updates with no avail on this. The mouse is perfect, just wish the bluetooth worked better with it.
Bluetooth Mouse - Suggestions?
