It happend to me with my wife SD card containing some holiday images!! I actually owned up and was I in the dog house. I was about to give up but after 20 miniutes of very careful fishing with the L-shaped piece of card I managed to get it out and quickly grab it with some pliers. Many thanks.

Tips: Be gentle and if the card bends make another.

i want to say a big thank you to the original person who thought of the L-shaped object to get the SD card out. i panicked when i accidentally put my SD card into the CD rom drive. luckily google got me to this forum and i realise i'm not the only one who made that mistake.

after panicking, i got the sd card out from the drive. thanks for the tip. i really appreciate it.

Thanks for this also....my 12 year old mistakenly stuck her memory card in the CD drive and was really heartbroken and we've been thinking how to fix it, but we came across this and tried it and it worked the first time.....we used a index card folded in and it brought out the little memory card. Yeh!!!

I tried exactly what Kappysaid:

You can try gently shaking the computer with the optical drive slot facing the floor to see if that may dislodge it.

And it worked!

First, I shut my iMac down. Then, I unplugged it and carried it to my bed. I CAREFULLY bounced the computer on the matress, and after a few tries it worked just fine! The card was mostly inside the CD slot, so I used a credit card and a push pin to get it out. Thanks Kappy, you saved me! 🙂

Thanks everyone!! We tried the paper clip (because it was handy) with the computer on its side. The SD Card was out in under a minute.

Did the SAME thing! yes, would be great to seperate the two (but I'd still have to remember which was on which side! the paper clip worked for me - that and needle nose pliers to grab the little tip of the sd card that I finally located - HOPE i didn't damage the cd drive in the process!

take a fairly thin in width peoce of paper. fold the end down about a half an inch and stick it in thr top and puch in and slide down at the same time when u get to the bottom pull out. stick i tin long ways

I just lost my pic SD in my CD slot and used the bent large paper clip. Worked like a dream. Thank you so much for this discussion group. Very helpful.

I have tried all the method that mentioned in this forum but I cannot get it out.. I am so mad about myself being stupid! I have made appointment with Applestore but it is so heavy to bring this to the store. Is anyone else cannot get the SD card out and have Apple to take it out? How long and how much? :-(

I did exactly the same thing yesterday, i had to take it to QCD in Times Square KL. They did it while i waited and it took 15 minutes. Cost was MYR 100. I do know where you are but that's approximately 4 pounds sterling.

I just did this tonight, and my heart fell into my stomach...going to try the paper clip thing in the morning

The cardboard L did it for me too - quickly, safely, no up-ending and shaking required. Thanks for the tip!

Cardboard L worked for me... Took me a few tries,about twenty minutes, I was close to giving up...the out it came..very happy camper here... Thank you

Just did it too and am laughing that there is a full thread on this!!! Got mind out using a book mark folded in half! 😀
