I get "error code 0x80020022" when I try to write to disc.

"The disk can't be burned because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)."

This just started. I can't burn to any disc.
I reset my computer every way I know how.
I did disc repair by booting from my restore disc. etc.
I'm using good quality discs that I've used many times before.
I can still watch DVDs and listen to CDs.

Any help please.

I have been trying for some time now, and cannot burn ANYTHING to a DVD. The error I'm getting is:

The disc can’t be burned because because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022).

I've had to replace two drives already, and all my systems have had nothing but problems with apple's "super" drives.

Anyone know what's going on here? I feel like demanding a new laptop, but it appears that even the new systems are having problems.

I miss the old days, when "everything Apple" was "Everything flawless."

I have had the same problem for a week - weirdly, right after I dowloaded and installed the whole list of udates.

So I bought the best DVDs money could buy at the nearest Circuit City, I fixed the authorizations and it still gives me 0x80020022.

Plus, now, when I try to burn DVDs, it only gives me one speed, so even if I wanted to set the burn speed at its lowest...

Googling this issue brought up forum threads from 2006, so this is not a new problem.

This post, basically, is to say this: very expensive DVDs from major brands AND fixing the authorizations do not always help. Thank you. Please... someone fix this ?

This is darn right frustrating! Apple NEEDS to acknowledge this problem and fix it. I have a MacBook MB466 running OS 10.5.8. I get this error when I use my internal SuperDrive OR an external Samsung burner. I've tried several different data sources to copy and the copy always gets to the 43% complete and then gives me the communication error.

I'm getting TIRED of throwing away $1.00 disc every time I try to make a copy.

Does anyone have any news from AppleCare? Please post.

No one's going to want to hear this, but this problem goes back at least two and perhaps three years. It plagued my G4 Powerbook and my Macbook White. Now it's happening with my Macbook Pro.

Apple has been scandalously lax about this issue which affects a major feature of the machine, the ability to burn DVDs. It's an embarrassment and s real bad mark against Apple that not only have they not solved the problem, they haven't even acknowledged it. Talk about ignoring your customers...!

I have just purchased and installed Snow Lepeord after reading a previous post that said by doing so helped and they found no problems burning CD's. DONT do this, it does not work, I still have the same issue with burning any CD's whether its file data or iTunes purchases - I still get the error code 0x80020022.

This is very frustrating and Apple should get their heads out of the sand and deal with it.

I get "error code 0x80020022" when I try to write to disc.
