Problems viewing trailers on Front Row

For some reason, Front Row is now showing an error message every time I attempt to play a movie trailer.

I get the message "The selected video could not be played. The format was not recognised."

I can't think why this has happened so if anyone knows what's going on, I'd be very grateful to hear from them!

Thanks!

I have a new IMAC 27 Inch & it ceased being able to play movie trailers through safari & front row on Friday evening. Has Apple released a "Press Release" informing their customers of their products that there is a problem but that they (APPLE) are working on it? I switched to Apple Operating System because I was informed they never crash like WINDOWS, I only have it less than 2 weeks & already software issues. Not a very good start for my APPLE experience, albeit a miniscule one.
Apple Management get off your arse & inform your customers of the problem, dont bury your head in the sand. You are lucky Michael O'Leary from RYANAIR is not your boss.

i agree with John ^^^^^ i switched to apple last month for the same reasons. I just called apple in the uk, and they basically couldn't tell me what was wrong and suggested i contact my internet service provider! I told them that loads of ppl are having the same problem and that didn't seem to bother the customer service guy at all! surely apple should release something, even if it's just to say they're trying to rectify the problem!

The problem isn't with your Mac. I have an iMac, MacBook and Apple TV and all suddenly were unable to play trailers and then suddenly they all could again (let me check... yes, they still work). More people experienced this, so it has to be a problem on the other end.

My personal guess, for which I have no facts/evidence/clues, is that it might have to do with the mystery Apple tablet. Maybe they are reconfiguring stuff on Apple's media servers.

Still, if they are and it is causing problems they should say this. They don't even need to explain why, just that there is a problem and they are working on it because that would save you and me time figuring out if we have a problem with our Macs. I for one reset my Apple TV a few days ago and it's still re-synching (too lazy to plug in an ethernet cable).

Except that I don't have Quicktime 7 on my computer running Snow Leopard, I have deleted the preference file from my computer, only to reload Front Row and have the problem persist, have no options for Quicktime in System Preferences, and cannot install Quicktime 7 because I get an error saying that I cannot install on Snow Leopard and to run System Update for the appropriate Quicktime.

+Yes you do, it's in your Utilities Folder.+

No, I didn't, and no it wasn't. I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard when updating from Leopard and its an optional install. I probably didn't notice I didn't install it when installing Snow Leopard. However, even with Quicktime 7 (upgraded to Pro) installed (from the Optional Installs disk), the options in System Preferences is not there. I'm running the kernel as 64-bit, so that may be the reason.

Well I'm having the same problems here with Quicktime trailers and Front Row, and none of the solutions worked for me.

If it is an Apple problem, then has anyone gone into an Apple Store, waited for eternity to get a computer, and tried one there. Would be a great way to get some attention from the Apple employees.

Maybe it'll all be fixed after todays Media Event
