Anyone who has installed the new update (3.1.3): any issues with it?

Just wondering how "safe" the new update is. Please report your experience with 3.1.3

Open the Summary page, click on the iPod icon if it doesn't open automatically when you connect your Touch, and along with the update notification you will be given two options at the bottom.
One is the download/install and the other is to download/save.

Later, when you're not doing anything else with iTunes or the computer (Like running a Windows update or a scan check), install the update on your Touch.
Let it alone to run completely.

edit : I've noticed that many people seem to think that as soon as that "new hardware found and installed" window pops after the update starts up many people think everything's done, it's not.
Go get your self a cup of coffee and leave the computer alone till you see the "safe to eject' notice then use the eject radio button.

I have only had my ipod touch for a month so I naively went ahead and updated to 3.1.3 without realizing I should have looked up reviews first. I am now stuck with the frozen power cable/itunes logo. It won't restore and neither itunes r the computer will recognize it. Since this seems so widespread I am surprised it hasn't been addressed by apple yet.

I've got problems now -

Neither my ipod touch nor ipod shuffle (the clip version) are showing up in the main task bar (left hand side). The ipod touch seemed to update by itself because I had that one done automatically and could see that in the progress bar - but the shuffle isn't showing up anywhere except in the menu. When I ask it to sync my shuffle. It won't. Just the image shows up on my desktop, flashes to a hard drive image, then drops off the computer.

Ok, so Apple was so quick to make the framework compatible with iPad that they forgot to do regression testing? I mean, what kind of stuff is this? I know that unexpected bugs happen quite a bit when new releases come out, but this seems to be a bit extreme to me as it is various issues across the board. Why has Apple been so silent on this? Don't take the time to do regression testing now, back port this stuff until you can get it right!

Trying to get my Touch right just to listen to certain playlists seems impossible. Half of them say they are empty now!

I tried to downloaded it this afternoon. During installation to my iPod it came up with an error message and could not finish. Now it says that an iPod is detected in recovery mode and it has to be restored. Every time I try to restore it though, another message saying "The iPod 'iPod' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred(14)" It looks like I'm not the only one.

I have had a big issue with the updates this week.

Twice now, I have found that my iPod could not find any of the 40 GB of music I have loaded or my videos. Also, my wallpaper was gone. Pictures and Applications were still there. I have about 40 playlists of both the smart and static variety. I notice some posters only complaining about smart playlists going AWOL but for me it was everything.

I normally check my iPod before leaving the house and was able to fix my iPod the first time by synching again.

Today I rushed out of the house without checking and spent the day with an expensive paperweight. Synching again when I got home made everything appear again.

I have no idea how synching would make an iPod unable to see the thousands of songs I have loaded, but as bugs go, I would have to give this one about a 9.5 out of 10. Now that I am forewarned, it drops to about a 4 out of 10 for the nuisance factor of not being able to trust iTunes to synch properly anymore.

I was having no issues before the updates this week. Now that I have loaded the updates that were to fix bugs, I have a major bug hitting my synching.

On a plus note. I upgraded my 16 GB 1G Touch to a 64GB 3G touch last month. The headphone jack on my old Touch was what failed, btw. The update was incredibly smooth. At the first synch, I was asked if the new iPod was replacing the old one. I said it was and the last backup was loaded and it was as if I was holding my old iPod in my hand. I was even able to continue the Trism game I had going and all my Notes, etc. were carried forward.

Okay, I'm royally ****** now. I just downloaded and installed the 3.1.3 update. I updated my iPod Touch 2G, and then got the Error 2002 where my iPod is stuck in restore mode with the iPod usb connector and the itunes icon. I restored my iPod, and my computer made a "backup". I was then prompted to copy over the backup, and I did so. Now, I'm missing about 150 songs and a bunch of apps, a few of which are paid. What should I do now?
