Anyone who has installed the new update (3.1.3): any issues with it?

Just wondering how "safe" the new update is. Please report your experience with 3.1.3

After update my 2g Ipod Touch ceased functioning. Had to do a complete restore and it seemed to work again but I've been having serious performance issues particularly after a sync.

Today the music app refuses to open. It will display a blank screen for a few moments and then revert back to the home screen. Soft resets have not helped.

Okay, so I tried to install the software update for the iPod Touch (3gen - 32gb). Somehow, it screwed up my iPod and it wouldn't boot up and I also couldn't restore it from within iTunes. I kept getting iPod errors: 1611, 1603, and 9.

I read a suggestion that I should try to reinstall the software after rebooting my computer. But I had stuff running and didn't want to close it to reboot. So I booted up my laptop, updated iTunes to the latest version, then plugged in my iPod.

Everything installed okay. I then pluged my iPod back into my main computer and was able to resync my applications but I'm still working on resyncing my songs and videos. I keep getting an iTunes error while trying to sync them and iTunes shuts down on me. At least my iPod will boot up and I got my apps back.

For reference, my main computer was running Windows XP Pro, my laptop was running Vista Home Premium. Hope this helps.

Good luck!

I installed the update (or tried to) and it put my ipod in recovery mode. This happened when I updated to 3.0 as well and i had to send it to apple. There must be some problem with the iPod. Its a touch 2nd gen, I have the latest itunes, windows 7, usb 2.0. I tried all the usb ports on my computer and iTunes doesn't even recognize the device. I'm so frustrated. I need to buy a mac. I swear there's some sort of corporate sabotage here one way or the other. Either way, I better get reimbursed for my paid apps. Like ***? I just tried to update!

Yes. Since I installed, I have an unusual problem: sync works ok, but when I download from iTunes and them try to listen, the music app crashes. When I restart it the newly downloaded items are there, but the music library is gone. When I go under settings / about, the songs are still taking space, but are not counted.

ok this 3.1.3 update is worse than i though. i said it won't sync smart playlist be4 but now i think it also won't let me sync my apps on iTunes. i can't check the sync app checkbox on and off. it's off when i connected my ipod touch 2gen and i can't check it to sync with iTunes. and the drag and drop area on the right is shadowed that i can't move through screen and do drag and drop to orgainzie my apps at all.
