Anyone who has installed the new update (3.1.3): any issues with it?

Just wondering how "safe" the new update is. Please report your experience with 3.1.3

Okay, took me a couple days to get the install of the newer firmware to work. Now, I'm having tremendous battery issues that I never had before.

With firmware 3.0 through 3.1.2 I had a battery lifespan of 30-40 hours with moderate use. Now, I am getting about 4.5 hours of moderate use time. I can't even make it through an 8 hour day without the battery dying.

I am strictly receiving E-Mail, 1 hour telephone usage, and occasional SMS. I am not using my iPhone to listen to music, watch you tube, or surf the net.

If your an Apple rep reading this, you need to make an emergency update to fix this issue! I work in Emergency Services, my phone is the lifeline for emergency notifications, paging, etc... I can not have a dead battery.

Worked okay for a day. After the next time it was attached to the MacBook the first sync went well. Then it couldn't complete a sync and after my music library was wiped out. Actually it's probably still there, but now its identified as other. Something is using that 5GB os space, which was the size of my music... This has happened once before after another iPod update and I had to do a restore. PITA.

After upgrading iPhone 3G S to 3.1.3, rearranging home screen icons now has the following bug (at least for me):

1. you should know that I have more icons than my I am allowed home screens, so when I connect my iphone to my mac, iTunes displays two additional home screens full of icons that my phone does not.

2. typically I am able to move apps I rarely use on to these "off phone" home screens, which frees up icon slots on the "on phone" home screens for me to add additional/different apps, or to add webpage shortcut icons.

3. since upgrading to v 3.1.3, I will move icons to an "off phone" home screen freeing up icon slots on my "on phone" home screens, then press sync, only to see the icon slot I just freed up get taken up with a random icon from my "off phone" home screens.

As you can guess, this is quite annoying as I would like to add an additional safari web page icon to one of my "on phone" home screens but as I am unable to free up a spot for it, Safari does not give me the option to "add to home screen"

Is anybody else having this issue? I suppose it could also be related to iTunes 9.0.3 (15) as I got both the iphone and itunes update within 3 days of each other...

Thanks,
Jeff

I was lucky enough to have my Ipod still under Warranty - 3.1.3 caused mine to freeze with the itunes logo and the power cable.

I sent it in for repair and they fixed it without any explanation as to how because I am guessing they do not want to admit any fault in this. Anyway, they installed 3.1.3 on it and everything seemed to be working perfectly until I tried to hook it into my sound system where it had been working perfectly before, now it says it does not recognize my iPod and will not play music off of it. This is ridiculous.

As documented in other posts I tried the 3.1.3 update and lost the entire iTouch. I am using a PC with Win XP Pro and could not get the restore to work after trying all the Apple suggestions (un-installing, reinstalling, new version, other USB port). Even tried on my laptop with XP and still nothing.
I finally got the update to take by using an older iMac after updating to the latest iTunes. Then went back to the PC and spent a couple of hours getting everything back. All seem to work OK, apps, vids, music.
Apple - what were you thinking? (All I can say is that if this were MS there would be civil insurrections - but Apple-The-Pure pure gets away with it)

I hesitated for sometime before updating, due to the many problems posters were having...but then decided I would update because many of the apps I had were no longer recognized since I still had 2.2.1 running. But I must say, after my update I have experienced no problems at all. 🙂 I haven't had the time to check for all the possible problems, but for the ones I that I did...everything working just fine. The real test will come later, when I try to connect to wifi outside of my home. Keeping my fingers crossed!
