Hi,

I had such graphic bugs in Aperture 2 too.

Any hints? Is it my "old" iMac? Time to upgrade?

Thanks and greeting from Germany

Are you sure this is an Aperture issue? Have you tried viewing the images outside of Aperture in Preview or Photoshop? Did you see if the images are corrupt?

No problem in Tiger with Aperture 2. However, I have had it in Aperture 2 after the upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard, just lived with it whilst waiting for a fix that never came. It happens just the same in Final Cut Express 4 at times, especially when using magic bullet plugins. In fact I can't use the magic bullets standalone program as each display (including the full photo being worked on) is just a green block with a line through, or for variety a pink one.
Anyway at least it stopped me spending £80 to upgrade, as none of the previews in the trial actually allow me to see a preview. So for me this is a Snow Leopard issue that has been in since the beginning, not an Aperture only issue - not that that helps any ... wish they would fix it though.

Same here (ATI X1600). This wasn't an issue with Aperture 2 until I've upgraded to Snow Leopard. Thought A3 will solve the problem but it seems even more prominent with A3. Real shame as in terms of responsiveness I noticed huge improvement over A2. Really not keen on going back to Lightroom but this bug makes the app almost completely unusable to me.

Just for more information:

I have the nvidia 7300gt chipset and experienced problems editing photos in Aperture 2 and Snow Leopard. No probs in Leopard. I have gone through an exhaustive effort to identify the problem as hardware or software related (check my ID and you will see I tried separate account, reinstalled SL, Aperture, new RAM, new HD, took the computer apart, checked voltages on the power supply, pulled the logic board and gpu, checked for dust and bulging caps, etc...to no avail) Then, on a whim, I installed the Graphic Driver Update 1.0 released 1/19/10 for Nvidia chipsets like mine running "Windows 7 in Boot Camp." Since I DO NOT run Windows 7 in Boot Camp, but have used Boot Camp many moons ago (pre VMWare), I installed this update, my ROM Revision changed from 3021 to something like 3467 (not if front of me at the moment) and the probs with editing, especially FULL SCREEN MODE, are really gone in Aperture 2.

Therefore, it is a graphic driver issue or related to the driver and SL. Now, here comes my next issue: In Aperture 3, the Edge Sharpen tool is a problem. It creates the same corruption I had in Aperture 2 prior to the Graphic Driver Update. The problem appears to occur mostly on Projects imported from Aperture 2 rather than photos imported from a separate source/folder. Whether this is the real reason or not, I am waiting on Aperture 3 to see if there is a 10.6.3 update to improve reliability and performance.

Also ordered a couple of Apple Books using the Aperture 2 utility. The books in the past (Aperture 2 and Tiger) have been brilliant, the book image very close to the on-screen image - very happy. So after two recent trips abroad I made up 2 more books and paid Apple £90 for the privilege of having them printed. They are ok - well passable - but the photos (Aperture 2 and SL) are much darker than their screen counterpart and if I was the complaining type I would have sent them back and asked for my money back ... now this has reminded me I think I just may do that.
Just trying the LR3 beta ... not used it before but for some reason the previews work fine, they aren't just magenta blocks ...
