iBook G3 Charger Question

Alright thanks Ronda, and thank you for accepting my Apology.

I think I'm just going to go for a "used" Apple Airport card on Amazon.com I believe one of them runs for 18$ + 5$ s&h.

Hey I was just wondering I have a CDRW (only one which is 702 MB -rewriteable) because I wasted a bunch of my old ones. (Well rather 20 of them-I bought them last week) and I've been attempting to install Mac OS or Mac OSX on this ibook, model # M6497.

I couldn't find a direct source so I went to a Torrent website (please don't report me ,aton of people do this.)--I'm too young to go to prison anyway >_>! (15 years old as of 1/23/95) =P! Anyway I downloaded a couple OSX files.

One being OS 9.2.1 (not X but OS) and then Panther (10.3.9) and 10.2.8 (Jaguar) all 3 simutaneously failed on me.

I did however manage to get Jaunty Jackaloupe (a Xubuntu/Linux distribution) to work after 5 hours of monotonous studying. Keep in mind that my only usable macintosh computer is this, iBook G3 (M6497) -> I went ahead and dug out 1070$ from my parents and got a Macbook MC207LL/A

and that is currently being upgraded by my good friend, Daniel.

So yeah I don't know whats wrong with or anything.

It has 121 MB of RAM (7mb of VRAM) and a 15 gigabyte Macintosh (HD) Harddrive.

Hey I just managed to do a full 150% complete installation of Mac OS 9. Torrented but it still works just fine. I'm trying to upgrade to a new Operating System. Everything works really good except for the Internet in Mac OS 9.

It says "failure to load" or something like that. Macintosh Internet Explorer 5 is what its called. Any ideas?

Alright I'm sorry. I've officially bought the entire version (legally) of Mac OSX 10.3.9 Panther.

I was wondering since the iBook G3 M6497 has 128mb RAM soldered in and the max that I've heard anyway) is 576mb or 640mb of RAM is it possible to install 256MB of more RAM? I found here for around 20 bucks.

Also that charger that I bought from eBAY it broke down within like what? 2 or 3 weeks of using it. The tip broke off and the edge of it was deformed. It got to the point where it was supernova when I was doing easy tasks like Word processing and when I was playing the 90MHz processor and short RAM game called Starcraft. At the time it was running a torrented version of Mac OS 9.

I'd really hope that you could answer this for me, Ronda. +P!

Also would Warcraft 3: Reign Of Chaos & The Frozen Throne be able to run on this?

I bought the 45W "yoyo" charger that Richard (from the first page of this thread) had mentioned. Same seller as the 48W.

Hey I forgot to mention.

I bought a used Airport 802.11b Apple Wireless card today as well as the 45W "yoyo" charger.

I don't think it comes with an instruction manual or cables?

Would that be required or?

I went ahead and paid for it already. Same with the "yoyo" charger.

The airport card was a last resort.

5-6 day shipping but hey? I waited that long for both the Laptop & original charger.

The "yoyo" charger will be 3-6 days but I honestly don't care :3!

I forgot to tell you I bought a 256MB RAM stick from SMS Assembly I believe.

How would I go about changing it out? Is it under the Airport card expansion slot?

I was on a budget this time so I'll just keep with the 256MB one.

Do I have to take out the 128MB of RAM? Its soldered or is there a second slot to put the 256MB into ?

So am I still able to install the 256 MB over the 128MB soldered RAM?.

I returned the copy of MAC OSX 10.3.9 Panther to my friend (I paid 65$ for it) and she gave me a copy of MAC OSX 10.1.4 Puma and that runs significantly faster and tremendously better. [Both are 100% retail copies.]
