iBook G3 Charger Question

Hey guys I just bought a USED iBook G3 500MHz / 128mb of ram / 15gigabyte harddrive without the Mac Operating System. I'm going to hopefully upgrade to 512mb or 640mb and 320gigabyte harddrive. I have replaced the battery, logic board and everything. I'm going to install MAC OSX 10.4.11 Tiger soon enough as I can find a source. Anyway it did not come with a Charger. I bought an external one, located at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320474202038&ssPageName=STRK: MEWNX:IT and I was wondering if it was compatible with the iBook I bought. It Says "Power Adapter Charger For Apple iBook G4 PowerBook 48W" I've heard stories about it working for others. As in powerbook g4 chargers "coexisting" with iBook G3s and I wondered if it would be the same for iBook G4s and G3s.

Please respond :)! My ibook G3 500mhz/128mb RAM/15gb HDD is a LATE 2001 model known as the iBook G3: M6497.

I paid 88.87$ for the entire lot.

Hi SKD and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Anyway it did not come with a Charger. I bought an external one,

I actually prefer this type:
http://tinyurl.com/yg9byf4
because it has a color changing LED in the plug to indicate if it's charging, on or bad.
Check with the supplier first to see if it has the LEDs. I hear there are some that don't. There's also the same one but with a long extension cord instead of the prongs directly on the charger box (actually meant for traveling they just slide off and on).

That still does not answer my question. I already bought the item mentioned above. Both actually. Charger & The iBook G3: M6497.

Will the charger (48w) be compatible with it? The product says G4 Charger though.

I don't have enough money on my credit card to buy one more charger. I just paid 300$ for the the ENTIRE lot.

88.87$ for the laptop & charger
and about 60$ for the logic board
and the rest was seperate.

Hey Ronda,
are you sure that adapter to which you linked actually has the color changing LED on the plug?

Yes I wasn't sure so that's why I told her to ask. Also that gives you a good feeling of how responsive the seller is. I just bought a bunch of LED stuff from China and all emails were promptly answered overnight and this was for a $2.32 item, free shipping.
I've purchased 7 or so of these "knock offs" all have the LED ring and I can't tell the difference from the Apple OEM equipment. I used to buy them from Sun Tek but now I see they're even cheaper and a lot of them come out of CA w/ free shipping.

I bought one from ShenTech for under $40 (several years ago, when that was a very good price). They claimed that it was an Apple adapter and was warranted for one year by Apple. The ring fell off of it within a couple of months, and when I contacted them, they told me to contact Apple. Apple replaced it, but I'm almost certain it was a counterfeit adapter.

What the heck don't you read my name?

Shadow Kissed Dhampir is a name of a character from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, even way much better than Twilight by all accounts. It can be a female or a male Vampire.

I posted my REAL name several times on this forum.

I'm a guy and this is my real name: BRANDEN HUNTER!

Hey Branden,
Sorry to cause offense I didn't read completely through all of your posts. It's also the first time I've seen a post from you. It could have been the "kissed" part that caused confusion and I'm not just not into vampires. I was also talking to a lot of lot of different genders.
I almost never post on this forum and now I remember why.

Oh, puh-leez!

You chose an i.d. with "ShadowKissed" in it. That is a rather effeminate i.d., no matter how you explain it. I'd suggest you choose another i.d., and if you're going to post your name, anyway, I suggest you use your real name.

Meanwhile, don't be so indignant to be thought a female. It's rather insulting to those of us who actually are.

Chastising someone once, maybe. He apologized. Get over it.

this "thread" or so you call it.

You're the only person who has called this a "thread" here (although that is what it is).

Dear everyone here at Apple Discussions viewing this page.:

I am sorry for my RUDE behavior as stated by Ronda Wilson and I have came here to tell you that the "mission" was a 150% complete success.

The charger link that I posted on here is working and fine and dandy ^_^!

Now if you guys could just direct me to a source for an Airport card?

Not the Airport Extreme but the normal one. (The original one you could say.)
