error(?) while exporting slideshow

Hi,
so while I was exporting a slideshow with about about 100 photos at 1080p (high def.) the bar that shows the progress stops moving when it is two thirds done and the preview thumbnail thing next to it goes pitch black and it stays that way. In the end I had to cancel the export and give up on the slideshow.

If anyone has any idea of why this is happening please tell me...

(at the same time i was monitoring my cpu and temp using istat pro. i'm not sure if dashboard was causing the problem but who knows?)

thanks

Daniel

That's the same crash each time:

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread: 22 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-priority

I've been googling that and not come across anyone with the same issue in iPhoto. However several folks with that crash on other apps have had good results downloading and re-applying the 10.6.3 updater.

Re-apply the 10.6.3 updater & find that not enough memory to generate the slideshow.

jam123456 - thanks to you, n-godwin, and all the others who have posted about this problem. I have exported many slideshow movies from iMovie using Quick Time and never had any difficulties. This was my first attempt to export a slideshow directly from iPhoto and I was stumped by the error. I rebuilt my iPhoto Library as suggested, kept my computer awake, and turned off Time Machine for good measure. Perfect result!

Yup, I had the same experience as n_godwin. For me it was all about the display going to sleep, not the computer itself. I consistently found over the last couple days that if I turned off the display by using a hot corner or if the display timed out through the Energy Saver setting, the slidshow export failed. Didn't matter if the slideshow was on its way to iDVD or the desktop.

Rebuilding the library didn't help me, and neither did setting the COMPUTER sleep time to never. It was all about the DISPLAY sleep time.
