Disk is too slow or system overload (-10010)

Yes I have searched but I couldn't find an actual solution to get logic to stop doing this every other minute (literally). I used to think the 'smart' snap feature was the most annoying thing in logic, but this waaaaaay surpasses it.

Anybody found a solution yet?

Logic 9.1.0 32 bit.

iMac 27" i7, Mac OS X (10.6.2), MacBook 2G CoreDuo (10.4.11)

Well.. hmmm there's a distinct possibility your Macbook will clean the iMac's clock... as in run smoother with more tracks and FX.

Not only is Tiger more efficient than Leopard, Logic 7 is a speed demon compared to Logic 9, especially on the older machines. I still have Logic 7 on this G5 and it will run far larger projects without any problems.

Have you checked to see if preference settings, I/O buffer, and other performance related settings are the same on both machines.

More recent versions of Leopard seem to write to the system drive quite a bit, OS 10.5.7 that I'm using accesses the system drive more frequently than 10.5.5.
I put a drive use light on the Mac a couple of years ago.

Possibilities...one of the VI plugins is causing a problem, not compatible with 10.6.2, maybe a memory leak?

Spotlight keeps indexing your drive. Disable or temporarily limit it's use using preferences.

Leopard journaling is more aggressive than earlier versions, so a combination of too many drive writes/reads on the system drive?

Oh yeah, my music is so brilliant you wouldn't believe it. It's the best 3 chord punk rock in the universe.

Who's being condescending? or in you parlance, a doosh... I'm telling you what works for me, and has worked, so it might help you trouble shoot.

Are you recording to your internal system disk and what's the data bandwidth of that disk? I had the same problems when I was on location recording to my MacBookPro's internal drive. I could only get 4 or 5 tracks to record before it would drop the process. Recording to external eSata drives fixed the issue.

In the OP there's seemed to be a wee bit of noshing about spending money on a new machine and having it not work.

Ooops, I posted again.
