iPod Nano 4th Gen - Stuck on Apple logo

After not using my iPod Nano (4th Gen. 4GB) for about 4 months, I try to turn it on to find it isn't responding. I figured it was completely dead, so I plug it into my computer to see an Apple logo appear on the screen, and I leave it to charge for about an hour. After charging, my computer still didn't register any usb device. When I disconnected it was stuck on the apple logo. After waiting for a while it was still on Apple logo.

So, I did some reading and put it into disk mode. Once in disk mode it was recognized by my computer, and I promptly restored it. After it was restored I reset the iPod. But, again it was still stuck at the Apple logo screen.

I have repeated this process three times, and each time I reset it after restoring in disk mode, the iPod is stuck at the Apple logo screen.

Any ideas as to why it is doing this?

OK i think i mite of fixed mine,
1st put Ipod in Diskmode (center buttion and play) an then close everything that popsup.
2nd open control panle, go to administrative tools<Computer management<Diskmanament Double click And find the "#" next to the Ipod nano
3Rd type in command line in Diskpart. Select disk "your#" (yes the spaces need to be thare)Now should say Disk "#" is now selected. I ran clean command. then clean all. Takes a long time. dont worry.
(info on commands) the commands make the nano look @ flash memory. and marks the ba sector an will prevent the drive from using the bad sectors
4th Restore the ipod nano , I used scyn but i dont think that make a difference (i never use it for got to take it off)
Hope it works for you. I had to fight with it a few more times but then it was fine.

I have the same problem on my nano 4g too. It only shows the apple logo. It plays music and is recognized by Itunes.
I did several restores, but it is stuck to the apple logo.

I entered the diagnostic mode. Everything in diagnostic mode works perfect. The only thing interessting it tells me is, that the tv out is set to on.

I think, that this is the reason for the problem, but I don't know, how to turn tv out to off.

Any ideas are welcome.

Hey,

I left the ipod alone for more than a week. Plugged it into my pc and right now I get the apple logo but its very light. Its not fully lit. So now it blinks off and on from time to time. Its maybe 10 to 15 mins in between each blink. So confused now. lolo

Nothing worked ... until I used Disk Utility to reformat the disk with the "Zero Out Data" option (in the Security pop-up) enabled. This, apparently, reformatted the drive in such a way as to account for bad sectors. It took about an hour.

How do I reformat the disk? I have a Dell Laptop. Can someone provide the steps for this please.

Thanks in advance.
