Installed 10.6.3 and now Photoshop CS3 won't open

Ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, Photoshop CS3 hasn't been the same. Whether it is the OS or the new drivers to manage my printer and my scanner, I don't know.

Today, I had been working on Photoshop all day and at some point the computer got slow and it told me it had a software update. I decided to save everything I was doing, quit Photoshop and install Mac OS 10.6.3 hoping it was the answer to all the glitches.

Instead, Photoshop won't open at all anymore. I have restarted, shut down, repaired permissions, reinstalled the program, updated everything and it still won't open. It's the only program affected from my design suite as far as I can tell, but it's also the one I use the most!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I read this morning that the 10.6.3 update updates the graphics drivers in Macs with ATI graphic cards. I suspect the problem stems from this. I haven't updated mine from 10.6.2 yet due to comments relating to Photoshop CS3 crashes/issues.

Really this is quite unacceptable and shows a lack of proper testing, something which seems to affect Apple software updates a lot these days.

Come on Apple, you aren't M$ - we expect better!! Please sort this out.

I'm experiencing the same problem, however none of my CS3 applications will survive 10 seconds past the splash screen. Ran Adobe Updater, relaunched apps, and they all crash.

Looking forward to a solution with baited breath.
Might just have to call it a day and see the matinee of Hot Tub Time Machine.

Have you tried manually downloading the combo updater for 10.6.3 and installing it?
If all else fails I think you can go back to 10.6 by re-installing it from the DVD can't you? Kind of an Archive Install, but it's not called that anymore.

I have the same issues with PS3 and Bridge. PS3 opens and then crashes. Bridge stays open for a few seconds thru a minute and then crashes. Tried the combo update- no difference. tried reinstalling PS3- no difference.
I'm going to revert to 10.6.2 from Time Machine until this is resolved. Bah humbug.

Reinstalled it (finally getting rid of version cue, noticed the quality of the adobe software again: fail.) but keeps crashing.

What glitches? This is the same old broken record with every software update. If your system is unstable, fix it. Do not install a software update. It will only make things worse.

Same issues here: repaired permissions, resolved font duplicates, restarted, made sure CS3 is fully updated... and all of my apps continue to "quit unexpectedly" upon launching.

APPLE: PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!

Same problem with CS3 crashing. Did a complete uninstall and reinstall of the CS3 suite (including cs3cleanscript, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html). CS3 apps will now not install.

What does 'will not install' mean - the installer reports an error, freezes, crashes?
The reason I ask is that we have identical machines running identical software. Mine is working perfectly - far faster than it used to in fact. Yours is not.
The majority of people posting with this problem seem to be using iMacs with MBP's on the whole running well.
Seems like a font, profile or third party problem in your case.

Let me also add that I am now longer able to open Photoshop CS3 since installing 10.6.3.

I am starting to agree with some of the other posters out that Apple +*DOES NOT TEST*+ these upgrades before releasing them. Just look at Aperture 3 with all the MAJOR issues it had.

Add me to the list of those affected. Late 2007 aluminum iMac 24" 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme, ATI graphics card, CS3 Design Premium. None of the Adobe apps will complete a launch.
I have a copy of Fireworks CS4, and it works, but none of the CS3 apps work except Acrobat Professional.

I took the advice of hapowen and *turned off "Open in Rosetta"* and Photoshop CS3 started working.
Go figure.

I don't even have Rosetta installed on my system. Photoshop already had that option unchecked in its GetInfo window.
