Sync Server Not Working Error

I have not had a problem with my new iPod Touch syncing since I bought it. Yesterday I downloaded the new recommended version of iTunes and now I can't seem to get my iPod to sync to iTunes. It keeps telling my that my SyncServer has stopped working. Don't know what that means or how to fix it.

I'm infuriated by this! iTunes seems very slow to recognize the device but it eventually does. It does allow me to sync and load music but won't let me sync contacts/calendar/notes/etc. I'm still getting the "Sync Service" error. To the original poster & title - It says "Sync Services" NOT "Sync Server". Not sure that it makes any difference, but I just wanted to point out the exact wording that Apple is using here.

1st window opens:
iTunes Cannot sync information with the iPod "name here" because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing? If you do not enable syncing, iTunes will not be able to sync contacts, calendars, bookmarks or mail accounts to your iPod. <Yes> or <No>
(click yes)
2nd window opens:
iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later. <OK>

When I first got my Touch, I hesitated to use the calendar because it wouldn't allow you to sync with Outlook. At some point, there was an iTunes update that allowed you to sync calendar & contacts with Outlook. So I have organized my whole life on this iPod based on that. To suddenly pull that feature away from us without explaining seems pretty shady. Hmm, it's my fault, right? I didn't spend the time to read all the new legalese that went along with this iTunes update. Maybe it said something in there. Or maybe Apple is going to fix this for us eventually; they NEVER should have released the update if they knew it had problems. Or (real conspiracy theory here; not saying I believe it but wouldn't put it past Apple) maybe they're only going to allow calendar sync through a paid MobileMe account. If that's the case, you can be sure I'll be going back to a Windows Mobile device so I can use it with my PC. Enough of Apple's proprietary garbage!

Thank you for the FABULOUS tip RE: SyncServer has stopped working

I copied the SQLite3.dll file to my desktop - the error message still pops up but it nonetheless enables Syncing. Was not willing to uninstall iTunes etc and reinstall the previous version. Hoping a proper fix will be forthcoming from Apple soon.

Anyone heard?

I had the same problem. I called Apple and spent an hour on the phone before we finally figured it out. The problem is that .dll files are conflicting. I had to move file sqlite3.dll from my c drive to the desktop and then delete it from the c drive. Once I did that I had to restart my computer with my ipod unattached. Hopefully this will help you. If not, call Apple, there are other files that may be causing the problem.

Relieved to find out that it's not something stupid that I've done but very annoyed that this problem has been going on for over a week judging by the posts in this forum and that apple haven't provided a quick fix.

I don't have the sqlite3.dll in my system32 folder. Below is my list of files there starting with sq, any ideas which is causing the conflict?

sqlceoledb30.dll
sqlcqp30.dll
sqlces30.dll
sqlsrv32.dll
sqlunirl.dll
sqlwid.dll
sqlwoa.dll
sqmapi.dll

All help appreciated. Cx

I've been given a solution that works for me - using Vista Home Premium on a Acer laptop (Got it from someone on HUKD who found it in one of these Apple discussion forums somewhere)

Have a look for file libxml2.dll in the C:\Windows folder move it to the desktop & then try iTunes

As I said worked for me so hopefully this will help others as well.

I too, am infuriated by this but also for the fact that Apple keeps removing my posts. I am having the same issues and I've posted that along with my general frustrations just like everyone else and obviously, I've hit a nerve with them because they keep removing my posts .. twice now. I wish I could share what I posted and post their response but I'm sure I would get banned (which doesn't really matter cause unless they fix this, I'm throwing away my Iphone and never buying another Apple product!) I too do not have sqlite3.dll file but I get the exact same errors. But my Iphone will eventually sync after an hour to do so, whereas it use to take about 10 minutes. I don't sync my calendar or notes, just my music, apps, and photos.

Wheeeeeeeee success after a week! I followed these instructions:

Make sure Itunes is closed.
Go to your control panel, open 'system' icon, click on 'advanced system settings' on left panel.
Click 'Environmental Variables'
A small window will pop up, with a top half and a bottom half filled with info.
On the bottom half (System Variables) scroll until you see 'PATH'. Double click that entry, and paste this at the very end of what is there.

;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support

Notice the ; in front, that needs to be there so this does not screw up the rest of the info in the PATH variable. Please be careful to paste this at the very end.
Then I searched my C drive for this file - libxml2.dll. It should be in the Apple folder, if there is another one somewhere else (mine was in C/Windows, sometime it might be in C/Windows/System 32). I moved this folder to the desktop, just in case everything went pear shaped.
I am not sure if you need to do both these things, the first alone never worked but when I moved the libxml2.dll everything worked as normal when I re opened I tunes and connected my Itouch. Outlook contacts and calendars now sync both ways.

I've been having the same problems that are listed here since I got a new 64GB iTouch three days ago. The instructions say to have the latest version of iTunes installed before the first sync, and when I started up the computer it said a new version was available, so I installed it first and then my iTouch would not sync. My 5G (80GB) iPod would still sync perfectly fine.

I've tried all the troubleshooting Apple had on their website, I've tried other solutions I found online to no effect, I've tried moving files like posted in the forum here... I moved the libxml2.dll file to my desktop, which did not work. With this file still on my desktop (not sure if that makes a difference or not but I don't think so) I clicked on my iTouch in iTunes and then clicked on the music tab. There's a check box next to "Sync Music" that was not checked. I checked the box, clicked apply, and it instantly started syncing.
