MobileSync has stopped working

When I try and sync, I get 2 error messages in separate windows:

"MobileSync has stopped working" and "Yahoo go sync client has stopped working".

I have reinstalled itunes, but still get the error.

I know my calendar no longer syncs, but have not yet discovered if anything else still syncs.

I am running Vista Pro.

I have followed the instructions on the Apple site to remove ALL apple software from the computer, and to reinstall iTunes.

I still have the same problem. My ipod Touch is now a useless piece of equipment, since I can no longer carry my contacts and diary with me, and have had to go back to my iPaq since I am not prepared to wait a couple of months for Apple to fix this bug (and introduce a few more) with an untested version of iTunes.

This is a last resort at getting the problem solved before I abondon any plans of upgrading to an iPhone.

I spend about 90 minutes on the phone with Apple support. We tried a few things including uninstalling all Apple software then reinstalling iTunes. That did not help. We turned off all services and startup options except Microsoft and Apple still this did not fix the issue. I even tried to sync each info item by itself and the issue still occured. Basically, we tried various things to rule out an issue on my end. It was finally determined it was an issue with iTunes. The upper level tech said that he would be taking this issue to one of the software engineers and would get back with me. I feel better and am willing to wait. The tech gave me his phone number and email address. Now, I am just going to wait for Apple to release a fix.

1. In iTunes, setup your contacts/calendar synch options to be turned on.
2. From the menubar, go to Help-->Run Diagnostics.
3. Let it complain, let it complete.
4. Try normal Sync button. (No more errors !!!)

I tried what Antoni suggested and it did NOT work for me 😟

Sorry it didnt work for you Lisa.

Here's what I have

1. iTunes 9.0.3.15
2. iphone 3GS (Software Version 3.1.3)

Another option (warning: only if willing to experiment and spend some time)

1. Using iTunes, restore / update the iphone (29x mb file to download)
2. let the restore complete (it'll prompt you to restore your iphone settings from its last backup if you have done one (i chose to go with new to see what else is there)
3. after itunes restores from backup / completes the update/restore, perform the Help--Diagnostics step

I hope this helps more than just me cos it was just absurd to have sync failed for 3 days in a row and have to deal with a "holiday weekend" situation.

In case anyone is curious, I was one of the calls and Apple did not solve the issue. They blamed Norton and just brushed their hands of me. They want to be a serious business provider? Not going to happen with this. 1 hour of Q&A would have found this.

I moved it another computer and mine works after doing a complete fresh install. I no longer can use this for work. Thanks, Apple.

I wonder if they will take any questions on Thursday about the issue when they reveal OS 4.0. I 'can't' wait for the iTunes upgrade for OS 4.0!!!!! NOT!!!!!

Did not work, waste of time.
I nuked the contents of my iTouch then restored them - my Calendar did not updated from previous! iTouch syncs with iTunes, but iTunes will not sync with OutLook!

Hi Guys,

I'm running Vista Home Premium and Outlook Express 2007. My iphone 3g S 32gb is running on 3.1.3 version and yes downloaded the horible itunes 9.1 and have the mobilesync problem where my iphone will only sync mucic, movies and pictures only, it will not sync anything thats connected to outlook such as contacts, mail, calander and notes. It's very fustrating and looks like Apple are not going to come to the party anytime soon and take the blame that they have destroyed itunes since its sill ipad itunes update.

Now I'm reading people are deleting itunes 9.1 and installing old versions of itunes, there saying don't delete your music files etc, do dyacnostic checks etc, however i am not that tech savvy and have a clue what im doing.

Is there someone out there that is willing to give me complete instructions on how to do all this or am i better to ring apple support and blast them and then get there help lol.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

Hi Craig,

I think there is quite a few users with this problem now and if we call Apple and BLAST them, they will start a data base and narrow this problem down, one thing in common (besides the MobileSync has stopped working" and "Yahoo go sync client has stopped working".) is I have noticed that people that have mention their PC software it has been Vista, that is also what I use.
Do you use Vista?

Hi Scott

yeah I'm on vista, I wonder if anyone on windows 7 is having this issue. Maybe I should look at paying the $199 and upgrade to windows 7 but then iTunes was previously working with vista, it's only since the 9.1 iTunes version that everyone started having this sync issue grrr

Apple have done something different for there silly ipad which is nt compatable with the iPhone anymore. I tell u if apple don't fix this issue with another week I'll be taking my iPhone back to Vodafone and telling them they need to give a new mobile other then an iPhone free of charge because apple and them can not provide a service that comes with there handset that they contracted to me grrr

it's so annoying. I was so enjoying the iPhone but getting quiet annoyed with everything now on how everything is connected

Cheers

Craig
