Video Playlists on iPad's iPod application

Am I doing something wrong or are video playlists totally broken on the iPad? When you get to the end of a video podcast that was launched from a playlist, instead of it playing the next video podcast on the playlist like it does on iPods, iPhones and Apple TV, it just dumps you out to the "Videos" application. It appears that there's no way to play multiple video podcasts in a row without touching the device to launch the next one each time. No other Apple device works like this! (and shouldn't)

This is still a problem under iOS 5.1 on the 3rd generation iPad. I was looking forward to watching multiple video podcasts on this display in chronological order, but while the Music app will count all what I have in my Smart Playlist as "Songs" and sums up their minutes, (even showing stills from the video episodes as you drag your finger off the stack,) only the audio-only podcast episodes show up when you open the playlist to play it. The workaround of priming the playlist with an audio track isn't working; it just stops after playing the last listed audio track.

In fact, when listing Podcasts in the Music app, only three of the dozen or so are listed. Two of them have audio episodes and one currently has just a PDF ("Doctor Who: Tin Dog Podcast", episode "TTZ 10") that won't open when played. Wouldn't that be nice: subscribe to a book series via RSS as a podcast and read them in order as they come out? Would be great for serialized comics. Or Play through a tour of interesting websites?

The Music app still plays video podcasts on the iPhone or iPod touch (currently with a slight visual glitch wrt/orientation in 5.1). Why not the iPad?

Armyant,

When i posted that comment there was frankly no way to play video playlist, but it works on iphone....but thats not the case anymore...real workaround...

Convert videos to TV shows (get-info) and group them by albums.

sync with ipad/iphone

play tv shows from top play icon

it will play all videos automatially

I use bluetooth to control all videos as well allows to FF and REV

hope it helps...figured it out almost a year back but never realized to post here:) sorry

Seems application was released yesterday, thus welcome for making new app

Now there are 20+ apps which claims to do the same but none does that, seems apple does not open that api

Question: can this app see all mp4 videos loaded as music videos/tv shows/ movies synched with itunes...and allow them to be added in a new playlist

does this support bluetooth controls?

does thi support guestures controls for going next/previous and rev/fwd video

Check icatcher which create such playlists but specialist with podcasts.....this app is great if you wanna see the potental of what video podcasts can do on ipad

Hello PrakashHeda,

Yes, my application got release yesterday, I have developed this application because my wife needed an application were she could create multiple video playlists for different events, and searched and searched and we couldn't find anything that meet her needs in the app store, she even bought an application to see if it enabled multiple playlists and it didn't, and I began researching and saw many forum threads with the same problem and one of them this one, and then I though that maybe I can help my wife and the rest of the community =D

Multi-Video Playlists shows you the videos (mp4) that you upload using itunes, it doesn't matter if they are tv shows, movies, they are all videos, and you can create different video playlists with the videos you choose.

The application doesn't support bluetooth, what do you need bluetooth for? it does support Air-Play so you can play your videos in your TV using the Apple TV.

for the controls, it does support prev/next and for the rev/fwd operation you can drag the play scroll bar to do this.

Thanks for the questions, this will help clarify what Multi-Video Playlists can do, if you have more questions please let me know.

Regards

there is an application which already does what you mention, I have to find the name (i bought most of such apps) though without bluetooth/gesture control/ and background video play, experience is half way

only app which does all that is icatcher but there i have to upload videos in the app (otherwise this app is super smooth)

Its all about how smooth is application is....default bluetooth will surely work as its ipad geature, though which bluetooth control button does what is on app developer

when watching a video if i wann skip 10 sec i do 1 swipe to right, if 30 sec than 2 finger swipe, if 2 min than L shape swipe....its way fast experience

some food for thoughts...I am going to buy ur app anyway as i expect you will enhance it later

I will surely add more features to the Multi-Videp Playlists app and any feature request from the community is welcome 😉

Please post your suggestions and feature requests in the following group: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/multi-video-playlists

I will have to try out the gestures you mention, it will be fun and cool to add gestures to the Multi-Video Playlists app, it will make it more attractive. The native gestures that Multi-Video Playlists currently have are the ones to delete a playlist or a video from a playlist and to rearange the videos in a playlist.

PrakashHeda, thank you for your support 🙂

see attcahed image, there is nothing to add....I have lots of video as tvshows and movies, have you tested this app to support mp4 videos from tv shows and movies?

I just cant use ur app at this time....as by converting vieos to TV shows i am able to play video playlist and its easily manageable...I have more that 30GB of videos of MP4 each sizing about 50MBUser uploaded file

May 15, 2012 10:27 PM in response to PrakashHeda

I found the issue,

I previously filtered to show only movies and not tv-shows nor music videos because Apple doesn't allow to play protected (purchased) TV-Shows and movies from our own applications, Reference: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5724052/playing-m4v-protected-content-with-mp movieplayercontroller-or-avplayer-ios

I will make TV-Shows and Music Videos visible in the application, but remember that only content that you have uploaded as mp4 through iTunes will work, non of the purchased TV-Shows and Movies will play if you have purchased them from iTunes.

PrakashHeda, please let me know if you would like to try a version that will allow you to view TV-Shows and Music Videos before I put an update to Apple Store since it taked a week to be approved.

Thanks again for your support.

Just worked out a solution, place your video in your photos, make sure something else is in there as well this can be a picture or video. We have a video and one picture, then go into your photo settings and set slideshows to repeat. Then go into your photos "at the photo level not the actual video/photo itself" and switch to slideshows and start presentation. Thats it!
