I am a business user and I rarely have a need to print anything.

The iPad is not a substitute for a computer.
The idea is that it's completely portable, use on the fly . . .

I'm a retired business owner, also a consultant for nonprofit organizations.
I finally got it about 4 years ago.
I used to keep paper copies of everything but personal email.
Now, I realize that I can (and do) keep files on my Mac for safekeeping (backed up, of course).
It's not necessary to generate paper copies of everything. In fact, most everything.

It's too bad you're still "generating lots of paper."
That's right up there with carbon paper, don't you think?

It seems a shame to me that someone that does not own an iPad is spending an incredible amount of time to use this thread as a urinal on a wonderful product that is made primarily for entertainment. I will purchase one to use for music, photos, and books. I will very rarely use it to generate work and will enjoy having it in my lap in my private time. My work machine will print, read DVD's, and preform all of the mundane tasks that I am paid to perform. I also have to admit to being one of "those Green folks" and after having removed the knife blade from my back will smile and ask that you "Have a nice day"

So, instead of others asking the same questions, he made a thread specifically about the downsides of the first generation iPad from the get-go.
I pre-ordered mine and is getting here the 12th but with this, I might just cancel my order.
I find it hard to believe to rely on someone else's application to be able to print stuff out or do presentations and what not.
If you glorify a product too much, you will only get the blind to bite into the stupidity most of you are ignoring. This device is for me to do schoolwork, take notes and what not. But as of now, I'm finding MANY faults. Perhaps they will be "features" on version 2.
If you guys don't want to hear about its faults, then stop whining at him and don't read it. But for the rest of us whose ipads are getting shipped later or are undecided about this product, let us learn more about it.

I'm in business, at a very high level, and I rarely print out anything. Someone printing out a document is living in the 90's. I have a ream of paper that may be a year old, given the amount of dust on it. And I never print out emails. I store them in folders.

This is a silly thread. Very silly.

Any first edition product is going to have many "faults" or "chances for advancement". The fun thing is having the first one on the block, the bad is finding out that it won't shovel your sidewalk. It will be fixed in V2 and that's why I'm waiting, but I give kudo's to these brave souls that are spending their money to be the "crash test dummies" for a product that has a load of potential. Of course he is whining. Less than 12 hours after a wonderful product is debuted someone that doesn't own the product is complaining about the product. Get real. Steve Jobs isn't Jesus, if he was his cancer would be cured. He just helped to create a product that many of us will enjoy and I applaud him for it.
If you want to cancel your order, please feel free to do so. This is America and you have the right.

Are you certain that it can't print through wifi? I mean, Apple has included the iWork apps. I would think you would be able to print from those?
