Hyperlinking not supported in mobile version of Keynote

Apparently, hyperlinking (turning an object or text into a link to a URL or another slide) isn't supported in the iPad version of Keynote.

Any one have an idea on if it will be added in the future? Or, is there something in Apple's development rules that would prevent Apple from adding this in a future update?

Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons I bought the iPad... for creating interactive displays via Keynote, thinking such a basic function would be included in the mobile version of Keynote.

Please, Apple, make this work. I am going on a speaking tour promoting top-selling apps that have people buying iPads just to use them. I want to make my presentations 100% on an iPad, but I can't do this simple thing: make a slide link to a video page in my presentation, and then come back to that page. Please, please, enable hyperlinking in keynote iPad presentations immediately! This is insane.

Well, they've not shown any sign of listening for the last 18 months in spite of many user comments so I'm guess Apple have their reasons for not wanting to support it.

Without the hyperlinks all of my presentations are rendered useless. I've not made a single linear presentation for

years as all mine have optional sections or links dependant on the flow of the presentation. As it stands it's just not feasible to use the iPad version of Keynote as it's just not flexible enough.

Likewise, the other iWork apps are missing fundamental features which means it's not possible to share a document from the desktop for work on the iPad as when it's exported back to the desktop version key features have been stripped out and formatting broken. Unfortunately, in spite of all the claims of compatibility between the iWork desktop apps and their mobile counterparts that's just not true. Importing documents from the desktop is frequently met with 'this or that is not supported and has been ignored' rendering the mobile version an orphan with features missing.

We ended up using Presenation Link and it did the job. It's basically what Keynote on the iPad should be. However there were some limitations but over all it's a great app.

You can import PDFs pretty easily. You then have the option to edit the file by adding or deleting slides. Making buttons and hyperlinks is pretty easy. Once you get the hang of it you can do this pretty fast. Then you can export the presentation to share on other iPads. It creates a zip file with the PDF and an xml file that when imported the app automatically reads. Only seemed to work on an iPad. If you wanetd to do the presentation on a computer it would not work which was an annoying limitation. There are few limitations.

For example you could make a master link which is great! You make one link and it works through out the entire presentation. The problem is that it must stay on every page. There is no option to not use the master link if the page you are on does not need it. If you delete it off any of the pages it deletes them all. Also the fact that you can't import a PDF with links you already made was pretty annoying too. Next and Previous slide actions would of been really nice too. I had to make a these buttons manually. Very time consuming.

Any way over all it's a great alternative to Keynote which really dropped the ball when they excluded the use of hyperlinks. Oh and Presentation Link is cheaper too!

Yes it's working. I built a test with pngs and movies and did the hyperlinking and it all transfered ok. However, does anyone know how to create a playback only version? If you touch the screen with two fingers (like if you wanted to pinch to enlarge) it escapes out of playback mode to edit mode.. I'm going to try saving the original with Hyperlinking playback only and require a password to exit to see if that works.
