iPad 32 gb, Mac OS X (10.4.3)
I just tried this tonight and it seems to be fixed in the latest iOS.
Hooray, I just tried playing a rented movie while downloading on the iPad and it does work. Apple does listen to us.
Gesus this is stupid wat is the difference between iPad and iTunes? I will never watch movies on iPad cause I'm to going to wait for them to download
This *****. Way to go apple I just wasted 6 bucks to rent a movie
I can't watch. Where's the nearest blockbuster.
Me: hey honey, do you want to watch a movie tonight? Wife: yeah, let's rent one from iTunes. Me: great, I am sure they invented this technology so that we can watch movies instantly. Wife: ha ha, we'll of course dear, why else would Apple even have this feature? Me: well, it doesn't seem like it's streaming! ...(Downloaded, four hours later)...Wife: I think I want a divorce. Me: Me too you witch!
(Man exits stage right, wife exits stage left)
Narrator: this is how Apple destroys people's lives.
you know what really grinds my gears? the first time this issue was brought up in this thread is THREE FRICKIN YEARS ago. and they still havent done jack about it.
one can only hope that android becomes bigger FAST so apple gets off his fat ***.
this is so stupid and really makes me angry. everyone expects this to work on an ipad as seamlessly as on an macbook. who in the world would be prepared to wait for an hour until he can start watching a movie he's paid for online? apple, you're making people stream movies from other sources! hd or not doesn't make the difference!
What's incomprehensible is that with 50k views over a 4 year period no one at Apple seems to have taken notice.
Apple. you should fix this by 2018.....wait I am from 2220. The future. Apple still doesn't allow streaming when downloading a movie...get this even when you pay for it. ....#nightruined
I Have decided Apple simply isn't very good. I am committing Apple suicide - take my hand and drink the Cool Aid.
Hey guess what? I can't even purchase a movie on my macbook and watch it till it's finished downloading. I could swear this wasn't always the case. Apple TV no problem, Macbook Air forget about it.
This company is slipping, they spend most of their capital rolling out new products rather than perfecting old ones.
Just attempted to rent a movie for the first time on my iPad. 3 hours later, it's still unviewable as my internet connection is a bit slower.
This really makes renting videos on an iPad out of the question, at least, spontaneously. I agree... Apple's quality is been continually slipping for a few years now. Having used them since the 80's, I'm not really used to seeing Apple misfire on so many different products.
GO into settings, then video and turn on "show iTunes purchases". Your rental will then show up as it is downloading and you can begin watching it
