Watch movie on iPad while downloading?

I'm downloading a rented movie on iTunes in my iPad. It seems like I can't start watching it till it's done. Is this true?

iPad 32 gb, Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Yes, from the iPad User Guide, page 93, "Rented movies won’t begin playing until the download completes."

Guess they want to insure there's no interruption in the download.

Me: hey honey, do you want to watch a movie tonight? Wife: yeah, let's rent one from iTunes. Me: great, I am sure they invented this technology so that we can watch movies instantly. Wife: ha ha, we'll of course dear, why else would Apple even have this feature? Me: well, it doesn't seem like it's streaming! ...(Downloaded, four hours later)...Wife: I think I want a divorce. Me: Me too you witch!

Just attempted to rent a movie for the first time on my iPad. 3 hours later, it's still unviewable as my internet connection is a bit slower.

This really makes renting videos on an iPad out of the question, at least, spontaneously. I agree... Apple's quality is been continually slipping for a few years now. Having used them since the 80's, I'm not really used to seeing Apple misfire on so many different products.
