Stocks? Weather? Clock? Calculator?

Strange ... Nobody missing these 4 apps that were on any iPhone and iPod touch???

So if I buy an iPad I won't have a timer? A stopwatch? An alarm clock? Check the Apple stock value? Calculate even the most simple calculations? Check the weather?

Is Apple really letting 3rd party developers provide these apps? :-(((

I want those apps from Apple!!!

I purchased an aftermarket clock app for my iPad, and you have to leave the app running all night in order to get an alarm clock in the morning. Seems very lame to me.

I find it quite amusing to watch other customers try to tell me why I should not want my iPhone/iPod touch apps on the iPad. It is also amusing to watch fan bois reflexively defend any decision that Apple made, as if it was handed down by the hand of Whatever God you might believe in.

hello;

it is easy to remove apps from the iphone/ipod touch/ipad.

hold any app icon until all apps are shaking and the icons have
a small red x in the upper corner. select the app you wish to remove
by selecting the small red x in the upper corner of the app's icon.
the app will be removed.

it is mush easier for those users to remove unwanted apps than
for those users who would like the basic ipod suite of apps also
on the ipad.

logically, it does not make sense to not have the same basic suite of
apps on the iphone/ipod/ipad. ease of use. the same apps which the
end-user may be accustomed to using.

Because its a phone or a small device ?

I can't see your point.

And my Mac Pro has them as Dashboard Widgets because it is a computer or large device? It is easy to see the point. I use these things on my phone and my computer and would like very much to have them available on my iPad. If some users find them annoying for some reason, I think they can be deleted in iTunes - if not they can be banished to the last home screen.

Although I am straying a little off-topic here, I want to declare how amazed I am that some individuals are so enthusiastic about denying other users access to features they don't want to use. I am reminded of the dimwits who cheered the removal of Firewire from MacBooks. In that case we "whiners" had some measure of success, I hope that will also be the case in this instance.

Your suspicions are correct - we are all 3rd party app developers who have connived with Apple to remove the apps so we can make tons of money...not. Apple supplied a large set of apps with the iPhone and that made complete sense when the iPhone first shipped because there *were no apps* then - not for a year.

Today the story is different. Now my iPhone has an entire page devoted to the Apple supplied apps that have either been replaced by 3rd party apps that I like better or I never use. The sole exception is the clock.

I'm not trying to tell anyone you don't need the missing apps - I'm simply telling people that what's missing isn't really being missed all that much. For me the only exception is the clock app. All the rest I either never used or replaced with free apps.

There are also other things that any rudimentary computer/PDA and most good phones, have, for example, a working Bluetooth stack with A2DP and ACRP, not this crappy EDR 2.1. Don't know why Apple cripples their device - they're just opening the door for Android tablets which are coming in droves over the next year.

As for the clock, it's so important to me that I returned my IPad and will wait a while.

Was going too buy iPad2 this Christmas. I use the timer/weather a lot on my iPod Touch. With these missing it feels like an unfinished product so I will wait until gen3 or perhaps until they appear via an update. Assuming of course an Andriod tablet doesn't get my $$$ first. Chalk up at least one probably lost sale to these missing features. Look these are expensive, it should at least do everything the iPod Touch does and more. Not less. Ahh well.

Yup, afraid so. It is a market leader but the price it has and the missing functionality I've grown used too... I will wait and seek alternatives. We will see if an apple fix or a worthwhile competitor shows up first.

Missing voice memo too, it kind of put the icing on the cake with regards to the decision to wait and look elsewhere.

As irony would have it I AM writing this on an iPad1 I borrowed to check it out. I'll hand it back in on Monday. Another iPad for the rest...

Ironically enough, I just checked Apple's stock price on my built in iPod Touch stock app and sure enough - the cost of the stock plummeted with the news that they will sell one less iPad this Christmas season.

Wow - what a bummer for Apple and all of their investors!
