Saving PDFs on iPad

Am I missing something or did Apple forget to make a way to save PDF files on the iPad. On by far the best platform to read the tons of PDF files I receive there is no way on day one to do this. I'm all for developers, but this should be standard on the iPad. Even after downloading pdfHD from iTunes app store NO LUCK !

I need to save PDF files to the iPad to read offline..... Period and we shouldn't have to pay extra for it.

IIt's hilarious how this would take a second in windows, but it takes to read a 75 post forum in iOS.

ios isn't better than the software a TV has. You can't really do anything that wasn't pre programed.

I'll never buy apple again. or i will search right now how to install windows on my ipad

You're basing your opinion on a thread that was started 5 years ago and hasn't been active for over a year? And that has had the solution given repeatedly? It's very easy to save PDFs to iPads. If you read the post just above yours, you'll see the instructions. Of course, that assumes you really want an answer and not just an excuse to complain.

No one here cares what you do or don't buy. But no, you can't install Windows on an iPad. Or was that supposed to be a joke?

That is exactly my point.

5 years went by and I still need to google how to save a PDF file.

There's no intuitive easy built-in way in IOS to do this, even after 5 years.

Regarding the solution provided above, it's not good for everyone. I use chrome as my browser. I have to use chrome if I want an easy way to search on page, as Safari doesn't have this feature (and if it does, I need to google the question in order to find it)

Installing windows on the ipad was not a joke.

Because, of course, no one ever needs to read a manual to learn how to use Windows. Seriously, any time you start using a new OS, you're going to have a learning curve. It didn't take you five years to learn how to do what you needed. It probably took you a few minutes.

Yes, you can search a page on Safari. You may want to consider reading the manual:

I didn't need to read a manual to learn windows, android or even linux.

Regardless, on your link to the manual, it says:

Search the page. To find a specific word or phrase on the current page, tap User uploaded file, then tap Find on Page. Enter the word or phrase in the search field to search. Tap User uploaded file to find other instances.

This is true for ios 9, but not on my iphone, on which I have ios 8.

Do I need to read the manual with every new version of IOS?

Also, if you go ahead and do what the manual says, you'll notice that you'd never have found that feature without the manual. It couldn't be more hidden. Compare that to chrome, where I found the feature in 2 seconds.

And I feel the same way with a multitude of features in IOS, reason why I can't use it for work.

I'm not asking for an answer. But I bet you that if Microsoft launches windows 10 for ipad, I wouldn't be the only person in switching. I'd finally think buying the ipad wasn't a waste of money after all.

Mind-numbing. I'm reading these posts because I want to save some mail messages as pdf on my iPad and yes, people are missing the point altogether. There is no attachment folks, no attachment!! On my MacBook Pro I can use the print option to save apple Mail messages as PDF. I'd like to do the same on the iPad. Not attachments. Messages, Web pages. I use Dropbox and iBooks and Evernote extensively but these do not address the problem this poor guy posted. Sheesh, does anyone read and think critically??

Dear All

You will be all very happy, as I am: the iOS 10.2 update brings print to PDF to iPad: look at what you want to save, tap the arrow indication and go to print. In the print dialogue box, pinch the first page and drag it left away from the bounding box (latter not mentioned on the Tips app) and you'll see the option of saving or sending as PDF.

Voilà. Thank you Apple!
