Do you realize people send money on farmville. I mean they spend money so the can advance in the game. That's probably why the guy was mad. He dumbed to ton of money on the game and couldn't play it on his iPad, pitiful...

And now Flash has a big security hole that may take weeks to fix... The world has gone crazy.

I beg to differ, the iPad is an amazing business tool... It does 90% of what my desktop does, and goes twice as many (if not more) places than my laptop... I write estimates, proposals, book flights, edit and email documents and spreadsheets (my assistant makes sure they are in the right format for the recipient and prints the stuff needing to be printed), sign contracts, edit photos, email, use the Internet, plus all the fun stuff like games, movies, and music... Really, the only thing it doesn't do is edit videos... Multitasking will be nice, but I don't really need it. The same goes for folders, printing, etc... What kind of business uses do you need that you can't get through an app?

Netbooks can't handle that either, yet they are "business" devices, not "toys." also, how many business people actively develop with flash? unless one is a web dev or app dev, one likely doesn't develop with it... and there are far fewer developers than pencil pushers...thus business uses usually refers to something typically used in an office...

Flash is not just about games. A lot of people (myself included) consume a lot of flash based training. It would be great to be able to use the iPad to consume this training. Unfortunately, that isn't possible (yet).

Instead, we get stuck sitting in front of our Laptops to view the courses (now I love my MacBookPro, but would sometimes prefer to just have the iPad).

i have downloaded click for flash to see what it would be like without flash as i am interested in getting an ipad, but i am not sure it has downloaded ok. i installed it but there is nothing anywhere to say it is running.

what i want an ipad for is that it is lighter than a laptop and want something i can take to uni and work placement and later work to type notes and my diary on and keep up to date with emails when i am away from home maybe watch the odd thing on iplayer or similar (do these work ok?) and keep up with friends on facebook (though i dont play the games on there)
if you have iwork on it are there any conversion problems between it and a pc? or is there any of the abouve that i will not be able to do

Amazing to see the stubbornness and blind denial that flash could be any good. Jesus Steve has spoken so it's scripture 🙂

"goofy people playing silly flash games"? Really? Since when is playing games something bad? Aren't silly games some of the top selling apps for the iPad? Yes people like to play games. Many of the flash games online are pretty awesome.

Everyone gets the point that Apple does not want to and probably will not support flash. That's fine. The part I don't get is how some people here try to justify it with ridiculous statements.

It needs too much CPU time? Really? How much CPU time do the iPad games use? Yes all of it! That's what they are supposed to do, use all resources to get a great gaming experience. But when flash does the same it's bad, right?

Flash has made the web experience amazing in so many ways. There is nothing bad about it. Calling it garbage is really such a cheap attempt to make it look bad.

Have a look at dpreview.com, the #1 site for digital cameras and reviews. Their lens reviews present the results using flash in such a great way!

Are there alternatives to flash? Heck yes, but flash isn't so successful for no reason. HTML5 and Java script are not an equal alternative yet.

In the end I couldn't care less whether flash or something else makes the web experience great, but calling flash garbage just because Steve said so is just silly. That's exactly what gave Mac users their wonderful reputation.

If it really was a performance or interface issue (because of the touch interface), both Apple and Adobe would work together and inform the iPad users that there are issues and we'll try to find a solution for you. The truth is about control and politics. None of it benefits the end users. No need to side with either one.
