iPad not auto-connecting to Wifi!

This is starting to bug me! If I wake my iPad from sleep, it doesn't automatically connect to my first-gen dual-band Time Capsule anymore. I have to keep going into Settings, and then touching my protected network which is showing there, and then it connects. So obviously it remembers the network and WPA2 password, but it's not auto-connecting. It's really annoying!

Anyone else experiencing this? I've reset network settings, and even reset the whole device a couple of times, and it still misbehaves.

*EDIT*

It's doing it on 2 iPads. I suspect there's some wifi glitches with these devices. Shame, really. 😟

Well, this is what we did. I waited for husband to come home, after all why mess with a router when I have a Intel Software Architect husband right?

Presented him with the 'iPad: Does not automatically rejoin known Wi-Fi networks' Apple article.

He went into our Westell Verizon FIOS Ultraline 9100EM15-10 router and reset it and switched the router to only 'g' and left out the 'b'. Seems to be working now. Will be keeping fingers crossed that it still will be working tomorrow and it's an easy software setting issue and not an hardware one.

I love my iPad, would hate having to go through all the trouble of sending it back, however if it is an hardware issue I will have to.

Same problem here - iPad losing network when it goes to sleep.

I haven't noticed most people mentioning it, but my iPad networking worked flawlessly for 3 days and starting this morning, I have to reconnect manually every time it goes to sleep. The iPad does retain the SSID and password, but I just have to go into settings to reconnect.

There have been no changes to my network since it was working perfectly last night. It also works fine once I reconnect.

iPad is 16gig, I have already tried rebooting and resetting network settings.

Router is Linksys dual-band b/g/n, two bands have different SSIDs and same security setting. Firmware is current version. I am connecting the iPad to the N-only 5.8GHz network. I also tried rebooting the router, but it is working normally with iPhones, macbook, and windows desktop. The support suggestions ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3304) were already my settings.

It's frustrating to see this problem now since it worked so well for the first couple days.

WiFi connection drops all of a sudden, shutting down and powering up again sometimes solves it sometimes it doesn't. It asks a 1000 times for my WEP password where it should have remembered it.

If you get the issue where it suddenly asks for the WEP password... do NOT enter it again. Just hit cancel. Then it will pop up another dialog showing you the same router it was just connected to. Select that same router and hit Ok. You'll reconnect and be back to normal.

Looks to me like Apple has the timeout for a lost wireless connection set too short. There are most likely a few other wireless settings that need to be tweaked in the iPad as well. I'll be expecting a 3.2.1 OS before too long...

So, after long talks with increasing levels of apple support staff, we finally realized that the reason I could connect to a given wifi but not get out of that network, was misapplied private addressing.

So, every other apple device in my customer's life was working just fine, all got DHCP addresses, routing info, default gateway, dns etc. Every device could properly reach the great wide InterTubes, except for the iPad.

It turned out to be that the WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) who this customer uses has implemented this weird addressing scheme for their internal network that uses the 169.254. . address scheme, otherwise known as the "Windows machine that can't get a DHCP address" block, or the Id10T IP address block.

Changed him over to a 10. .*. addressing scheme behind his router, all good and it can participate properly in all network activities.

Just thought I'd pass that along, watch your IP addressing, apparently the iPad knows about that address block and won't route properly even if the routing info is there.

Mine works with any router I tried, but always have the problem when waking up.. When it asks for the password I just turn off and on thru the top button and it gets the connection back up again... Its anoying
I still have 15 days to return, and was wondering if the 3G model has the same issue when used as wifi only with the 3g option off... Does anyone know?

Thanks

I just had to return my first 64GB iPad today (long story) and the new one I got was having this same problem - connecting to my home Airport Extreme just fine, but not reconnecting when waking up. Since the first one had no issues auto-connecting, I immediately knew something wasn't right. After looking online for a solution and not finding one, I finally tried rebooting the iPad (for those who haven't done that before, just hold the sleep button at the top until the red power off button shows up on screen). After the reboot, it hopped on to my home network just like it should. So, if you haven't tried that yet, it's worth a shot... I may have just gotten lucky, though.
