iTunes Password Input keeps popping up

I keep seeing a pop-up asking me for my iTunes password.

Anybody else have this problem or know why this would happen?

It just happened to me for the first time today. Kept coming up, then came up when I turned it on.

I went to the App Store app and it came up as soon as the app started. So I filled in my password and pressed OK, then I made sure the search window was blanked out (clicked the x), then I put the store in "the Featured" section then exited the store app. I then flipped through all app windows (to make sure that no app had been paused during a download) and after that it hasn't happened again. Don't know which part of the above actually did the trick.

Thanks @Phillpkd for your post, but this is not the fix for everyone.

When I first got my iPad I never had this problem, until I contacted Apple support about my iTunes account. I told Apple that my iTunes on my new system did not down load all my purchased music from the iTunes store. Apples reply was that I needed to backup my file from my old system and import it to the new system.

I told them that could not be done the old system is no longer around. Besides I thought that all my purchased music would download to the new system once I authorized it. Apple saide "No, it will not" what Apple did was they reset my downloads so that they would download again. However they did tell me that I may not get all my downloads "purchased" music, anything they no longer carie that I purchased will not download.

So Apple reset my account and everything downloade. After the reset is when the problem started. I know that not everyone has had iTunes reset like I did. I think it is a problem with the iTunes verification and authorization for the iPad.

The iPad is performing random checks on the iTunes store for updates to apps and it is being challenged every time. This is my theory for all of us that are not seeing the same thing that Phillpkd is.

I believe the problem is definitely not fully download an app. I ran into an app that I tried downloading last week from my 3g mode. I believe it was the tap tap radiation. Initially it started working than it asked me to go to wi-fi or to connect my ipad and download through itunes directly. I believe the problem was it was tap tap radiation which is 20.2 mb and the ipad on 3g won't allow downloading more than 20mb... I initially had the problem that the app was stuck on my screen and I eventually reset the ipad and it disappeared. Now I get the itunes password request all the time. I will try to download the app from wi-fi or direct from my laptop later today and hopefully this password request disappears. Annoying when opening a book or app!

MY FIX. I put in my itunes password average 20 times per use of ipad. Heres what fixed it. Settings to "store" hit "MY ACCOUNT" and press APPLE ID. Your login/password will drop down, put the curser behind the password which is ******* then x it all out completely empty and reenter, same for next line, make sure you DONE your way out. Works ever time. This os is so stupid, always look for the stupid fix.

People who still have this problem:

The itunes password window keeps 'popping up' because you have a paused download in the app store or itunes store.

I had the same problem, and then I remembered I paused a video download in the itunes store a few days before.

Just go into both stores, and check the downloads (categorised in the 'More' tab) either continue the download or stop it.

Hope this helps! :)
