How do you put date in top time bar?
I can't find anyplace in the setting. Seems like a dumb oversight.

"...and that people will become confused."
Disagree. The section Date and Time already exists under General Settings, and a toggle to Display Date located in that section would just make sense.
It would be nice if Apple created the feature in which you can tap on the time on top and it would allow you to see the date.
Lots of good suggestions here. These suggestions, plus sending a feedback report to Apple, may eventually get us some satisfaction. In the meantime, forgive me for reminding everyone that if you put the native Calendar app on your iDevice's dock it will display the day's date number (the icon is dynamic). This is the same as on OS X.
Another option, which I prefer, is to download the app CalCube:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/calcube-quick-slick-easy-calendar/id803856572?mt =8
CalCube has the option to display the date number as a badge icon. The basic app, I believe, is free. There is an in-app purchase for $1.99 to add additional functionality. But, I actually don't use the app beyond its Badge feature. What I do is put CalCube in a folder with all my "Time" apps. I then put THAT folder on my dock since I do use those apps a lot (Reminders, native Calendar app, countdown timers, etc.). The date badge generated by CalCube is displayed at the top right of that folder. Since it's on my dock, no matter what page I'm on the date is there on my dock.
Not perfect...but not too bad a work-around...at least for me.
I hope this may be of some value to others.
System Preferences > Date & Time > Clock > Date options: Show date
That is going to be very difficult on an iPad.
The Calander Icon displays the current date. I guess this is why there is really no push to display the date on the top information bar.
I admit it would be nice to have all information in one location. Best I can advise is to re-locate your calander icon under the top bar.
Still awaiting this simple and basic bit of functionality.... I've sent Apple feedback now.... not that they seem to care....
Prolly a push to get more people to get the Apple Watch
The Apple Watch wasn't available 7 years ago.

Who is "Prolly" and why would they be pushing anything?
