Tapping the time does nothing it looks like something apple needs to update .duel 2.5 GHz PPC g5, Mac OS X (10.5.1)
Currently Being ModeratedApr 16, 2010 7:21 PM (in response to poshgirlvintage)I want the same thing - day date and time in the top time bar on the home screen. Can't find a way to do this in Settings. Seems like a(nother) big oversight by Apple.
I get the feeling Apple rushed the iPad to market without their usual very thorough 'thought of everything' from the user experience perspective.

Hi, I would love to see the date displayed along with the time that's on the top of my iPad . Anyone know how to do this?
How about using a Brother P-Touch and just sticking the current date on the top of your iPad each day. That'll do it! ;O)Powerbook G4, iPod Nano, iPhone 3GS, iPad, First Apple product: Powerbook 150

WOW! It's over 2 years later and Apple has STILL not added this functionality to the iPad or the iPhone. It's crazy. I can't tell you how many times I want to QUICKLY and EASILY know the day and date (in addition to the time) when working with my iPad or iPhone.
I've sent multiple feedback submissions to Apple about this.
Useless. I wonder how many million people have to request a functionality enhancement before they pay attention to it.

That's a possibility. It is not a life and death functionality so I suspect not enough users have submitted feedback to Apple that this is a feature that would make the iPhone more user friendly for them.
Let me put it this way. Take one hundred people. Show them two iDevices. One with just the time. One with the day, date, and time...as shown below.

I'm betting that 90 would chose the second option. And after a period of time the other 10 would realize the inconvenience of not having easy access to the day and date and change.
How do I know this.
I don't. But, I am a betting man. And this seems like a pretty good bet to me.
