To echo the statements of a lot of the previous posts, this App is one of the sole reasons I bought the iPad. Frankly, the games and internet browsing weren't really it for me, it was the ability to take my already acquired comic books on the go. ****, I bought a 64GB version for this purpose alone. Now I find that I can't even download the app at all? Bogus. Are there alternatives? Sure, but none of them are nearly as comprehensive as this app. I would not have paid the $700+ for the iPad if I knew I would have to settle for some second-best app (frankly, I wouldn't have bought an iPad at all, cheaper or smaller storage options inclusive).
To reprimand the developer is one thing. To deprive a good many people of a function that was part of the reason for even purchasing the device is another entirely. If the Netflix app was suddenly rejected on similar grounds, or the ABC Player, or something alone those lines, you would have a riot.
Facts are that you essentially bricked my fully legitimate iPad a day after purchase. As it stands I have three options: 1) I can buy Comic Zeal, which pales in comparison and doesnt offer the features I was looking for, 2) I can jailbreak the thing, thereby violating the terms of use and exiling myself from the company I spent money to support, or 3) I can return the iPad, take my $700, and buy a tablet PC later this year that will support and nourish my ability/desire to take my collection on the go.
Right now, I'm leaning towards the latter. Please give me a reason to reconsider.
