iphone making random calls

You clearly have not been reading the rest of the posts here. My son is not the only one this is happening to. If you do not have an answer or helpful advice, then please keep your comments to yourself.

It might be worth a try switching off voice dialling anyway, if you have not already tried it. You might be getting your iPhone activated a different way but have the same "feature" leading to the phone calls.

This happened to me last night. In the middle of the night, my iphone 5 called my office at 1:30, a colleague at 1:35, our house at 3:30am, and my parents at 3:50am. It was under my bed charging, and those numbers are not contiguous on any favorites or recently called list. I am totally baffled why this happened. None of the above suggestions would explain it. AT&T said "they've never heard of this problem". Right. Any better ideas? My kids have been playing with my phone so maybe some obscure setting? there was no noise, no animals under the bed. Maybe some of the pocket dialing i've been accused of is really ghost dialing.

Having the same problem with my wifes phone but more now. Phones calls are cutting out and then doing an auto redial but trying to facetime and different person in her address book. Very odd all of it. AT&T says they have not received any complaints about any of these posts... Wish there were some answers...

Yep, we also get the problem here in London on Vodafone network. At least two people are having this issue: myself and a colleague (we are IT boffs).

We were on the phone to each other last night, we finished the conversation, hung up. Then separately, BOTH our devices independantly and randomly called people in our address books! So it happened AFTER a phone conversation. Both devices were on our desks and not in pocket. Also, we implement an immediate screen lock policy.

Other users may think they "pocket dialled" by accident so are probably putting it down to themselves making the error.

Apple - SORT THIS OUT.

My iPhone 5 started taking pictures, videos, and sending text messages on its on but only after I plugged it in at night to charge. One night after I texted my daughter and said good-night my phone sent her a random (no real words) I found that there were also videos of taken - several minutes of blackness and the sound of our white noise machine. It launched a you tube video on another occasion. This may be a coincidence but I was using a non-Apple charger and when I stopped and started using an Apple charger the problems stopped as well.

I have two iPhone 5, one on Verizon and one on AT&T. This started happenning to me tonight on the AT&T network. The phone is not paired to any bluetooth device, it was sitting on the dining table facing up next to the other phone. My wife and I were chatting when we heard a call being made, and then heard someone's voice mail greeting. I got up and looked at the phone, the screen was completely off, but I could hear the greeting. I hung up the call and looked at the recent calls, the phone made 4 phone calls to this number in my recent calls list. But the number was not the most recent.

I removed the app that I installed today: Microsoft Lync, and upgraded the phone to IOS 7.04. I performed one extra reboot after the IOS 7.04 upgrade. I got both phones and placed away from each other scrren side up flat on my work desk (thinking one might have interfered the other). About an hour later I hit the Home button to see how the phone was doing it indicated "MULTIPLE CALLS", It called another recent number from the list twice, and one was going on for about 26 minutes.

There were absolutely no indication that the calls were being made. The screen was completely off. If I didn't hit the home button, I wouldn't have known that the calls are being made.

This is beyond annoying and it is a security issue. I haven't had this problem until the IOS 7. Something is seriously wrong with this OS.

My phone showed 3 incoming calls last night, one right after another (after answering and hanging up each one)

To the caller, they all showed me as calling THEM!

Verified with 2 of them this morning, that this was the case.

I didn't have bluetooth on, and I'm running iOS 7.0.3 on an iPhone 5s.

I am experiencing similar issues...iphone 5, AT&T, IOS 7.0.4. It just randomly called my son's school and my mother-in-law while I was asleep. Phone was face down, locked, charging, next to me. I've turned off voice calling and bluetooth for now. We'll see if it happens again, but given that there are so many complaints and no real resolution, I'm betting it does. I hate to power it completely off at night; it's my alarm clock! Any other suggestions?

Since a couple of weeks my iPhone 4 (iOS 7) is also calling on its own. This is only happening when someone calls me and I answer the call. After hanging up, it calls my last dialed number (I don't unlock the phone). For me it helps to unlock the phone immediately after the call and shut down the phone app. My brother got this same problem since today, also iPhone 4, iOS 7. It doesn't seem to be a provider related problem, his provider is KPN and I got T-Mobile Netherlands.

iPhone 4S 7.0.3 Sprint and having some problem. My phone recently received and made randoms calls when it was just sitting there locked on the counter (plugged in or not). I recevied a "prank text" from a local phone number. I answered and a recording started - leaving pauses in the recording for me to answer. At the end of the call it said "you've just been pranked". Knowing about some scams out there, I did not call the number back... just set the phone down and went about my day. Later that day and the remainder of the day I received calls from my family members but when I answered, no one was there. I spoke with them and they didn't call. Then it started happenning to my husband's phone and mom's phone (both on my "family plan"). They were receiving and making random calls to family... none of the calls were initiated by anyone. The phones were calling on their own. Oddest thing. I think it has to be related to the "prank". I think someone did something funny to my phone or to our plan. The issue has stopped but was the strangest thing.

I am also facing a similar issue from past couple of weeks with my iPhone 4 (iOS 7). This is happens right after I finish answering an incoming call. The phone chooses a number from the recent call list and dials back. I don't think this had anything to do with the service provider.

Just to give you all a heads up and possibly save you some money from buying new chargers and new phones...Theres a website out there right now that allows someone to take 2 numbers and have them call each other. If they both dont pick up then the one who does pick up hears nothing. If you both pick up then its just like you guys called each other,while the person who actually made you guys call each other is recording the conversation through the app. It shows up on both of your phones that the person called you but doesnt show that you have called them. I recently had this done to me and I was lucky enough to be told by the pranker who did it,otherwise I would be going crazy just like the rest of you. As far as i know there is no way to block this,but at least you now know this is most likely the cause. Hope this helps!

The reason why im not saying what website/app it is, is because I dont want more people becoming a victim of this annoying prank.

I believe it's definitely a bluetooth issue as I had this same issue happen this morning. After restarting the phone, it looked like my phone still had the device connected, and still attempting to make this phone call 51 times in a row.

The only way I was able to stop it from happening was to put my phone into Airplane mode.

This allowed me to reset all of my phone's connections including Bluetooth. From here, I was able to reconnect my devices and move forward without issue.

I hope this helps someone else is freaking out that their phone might be posessed.

This just happened to me last night. I was plugging my cell in for the night headed to bed. My iphone5 suddenly rang. A very irate man asked what I wanted - that he was calling me back. I assured him I didn't call him. He said I did and that is how he got my number (an even more irate woman was yelling in the background about the late hour of the call). He even said the first name of the primary on the account as it appeared on his caller id. His incoming call showed in my call log. However, I had NO outgoing calls to his number. Oddly enough, a co worker was telling me the exact thing had happened to her, the previous day, during work yesterday. It bothers me that this number that was called is not a number I have ever called. Hopefully this was a one time deal.
