Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)
This issue is caused by the bottom cover being supported unevenly, thus causing it to buckle slightly-- which causes it to make contact with that grounding bar. The machine is obviously designed to be used on a level surface to promote proper displacement of heat, and to allow proper ventilation. Rather than removing or insulating vital grounding points, I would suggest using your machines on a level surface. This solution has solved my issue completely. I hardly hear the noise when my laptop is either on a desk, or flat on my lap. If you are using your machine in bed, rest it on both legs, or get a laptop pad on Amazon. 🙂
I had similar problem, but I removed this small plastic part and it did not help. I noticed that there is a problem not with bottom case but with upper (main) part. It starts clicking when computer is getting hot (use cinemabench and run CPU test)
It started clicking after I changed the thermal paste for the processor. I was trying everything and still nothing... finally I relaxed all the screws for mainbord and then moved it a little and then i tighten the screws but not very strong. I think the clicking was because of some tensions between mainbord and case. I did the same for other parts like superdrive etc. Sorry for my english 😉 but I wanted to share my solution..
dont forget about this:
I hope it will help 🙂
