AT&T Error Q5033

Anybody else coming across this error/timeout? I finally found an address I could use to get signed up for 3G but it gave me this error before the process completed. Now when I hit "view account" it thinks for a while and says "AT&T is unable to process your request. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please try again later (Q5033).

It's been a few hours now. Same message every time. Anyone else experience this and have a solution?

I got the iPad Friday... I tried to sign up for a AT&T cellular account, and got the Q5033 error (I posted earlier in this thread).

I spent 1-1/2 hours on the phone yesterday with ATT&T and Apple. It appears that the cellular account was set up, but the billing information was not attached to the account. According to AT&T (just spent 25 min on the phone with AT&T), the problem is on the Apple side, and the billing information is not processing. My iPad has a phone number attached to it, but of course because the billing is not attached, there is no service. According to AT&T, my cellular data account was then automatically cancelled due to lack of billing data. Also according to the AT&T rep, Apple supposedly has a solution. Obviously, I'm very skeptical. I'm going to call Apple tomorrow. (BTW, I did try resetting the iPad (full reset). That does not solve the problem).

Hello all I share your pain..... I purchased the I pad on Friday I to kept getting the Q5033 error. Although my experience with Apple Tech and Att tech were pleasant. They did not solve the issue. After call apple and att for three days straight with an average of 2 hours of hold and lets try this. Nothing seemed to work I lost it today when a att guy just did not know and his supervisor was to busy in a meeting to help...... So I pick up the I pad and went back to Apple store.. the genious guy was great he would have given me another iphone but they were out of stock... He said i had 14 days to return it but to try the att store next door for a new sim chip... I left the store walked into the att store and the nice girl replaced by sim chip and I re registed with my account infor and the Dang THING STARTED TO WORK! The att tech susp

continued. the busy the meeting support supervisor finially called back. I told thanks but no thanks I solved it on my own. No I must tell you that after I received the new sim chip. I registed witha a differnt credit card and used a differnt email address. The problem is with att in the account setup. we all must have some common thing in our account information that the att system reject. Like email addresss used with other att products i use or american express card. or maybe the password. The thing that really makes me mad is that never in all the calls I had att program engineer ask how I orignnaly sign up. GOOOK LUCK TO YOU ALL....APPLE YOU NEED TO DO A BETTHER JOB IN HOW YOUR PRODUCTS ARE SET UP AND MAYBE YOU SHOULD RELEASE YOUR PRODUCTS ON A MONDAY INSTEAD OF FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND. LOOKS LIKE ATT TECH TAKE THE WEEKEND OFF

Well, i'm the guy that started this thread and this morning I finally have it working. I had exactly the same problem as described by others....no data/billing information attached to the account. Last night I got an email from AT&T saying my account was deleted and this morning I was able to go through the sign up process and complete it. Those left with this error need to have AT&T delete the partially set up account and then sign up again. The problem I ran into was that the telephone support people can't delete it. They need to send it on to their "engineers." 36 hours after that, I got my account deleted message.

Hope this helps. It seems like such a simple issue with an unbelievably complicated solution!

I still can't get the cellular service, but I'm going to try replacing the SIM card. In my instance, the AT&T engineers did not delete the account... the system automatically erased the billing information after 3 days of inactivity (since the billing data never connected to the account-- i.e., I never got to the "summary" screen).

I received a phone call from AT&T to verify that I was able to activate last night. I told him that I was still getting the error when I tried to check my account info and he said that they had resolved that issue this morning. I just tried it and now that is working for me too.

For those just joining this thread, hang in there! The iPad is wonderful technology and the activation issue is being resolved.

found solution, take the thing back. its an internal software problem. if u take it back right away, apple will set u up with an appointment, and they will just replace your ipad free of charge. i then signed up again and everything went smooth. i have a fully functional operational ipad. you can try hasseling it out with att customer service, or apple telephone people, but everyone i talked to was honest and said the product is to new and they didn't know what to do to resolve the issue. and trust me i did everything and then some.

Success! I was finally able to sign up for the cellular service.

To recap, I bought the iPad Friday. The billing setup was never completed, but the iPad showed an IMEI number (and 3 days later, a cellular phone number). I kept getting the Q5033 error until the billing data automatically cleared on Monday due to inactivity (since the billing data never got assigned to the account, the account was shown as inactive). After the billing data cleared, I was able to attempt to sign up for service again. But I couldn't complete the sign-up. I had talked to AT&T twice, and Apple once, for a total of 2 hours. Today I tried the sign-up, but with a VISA credit card instead of American Express. Either the problem was fixed by AT&T or Apple, or there was a problem using the Amex cards (I actually tried two different Amex cards and was not able to complete the sign-up with either card).
