M-Audio Keystation 49e not recognised

I am using an M-Audio keystation 49e with garage band and for some reason, I cant get it to be recognized as an input device. What am I doing wrong? The blue light is on but when I go to system profiler, I dont see it on the USB list. Help!!!

15 MBP, 17 iMac, iBook 14, PM7600 G3266, IIvx, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

At least find another cable. When my cables went my mac also recognized the MIDI but I never had any sound.

As someone said earlier, a midi keyboard is not an audio device. Are you sure you are using a software instrument track?

Then it looks like your device isn't sending out any midi signals. Some setting at the keyboard?

The volume slider on your software instrument track is influenced by the keyboard's volume slider? That sounds strange to me.
