iTunes Movie won't Play on iPad

I have the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB

When Star Trek came out on DVD, I bought the Blu-ray 3-Disc copy that had a free Digital Copy download from iTunes.

This copy would play on my Apple TV, but not my iPhone... Now I have loaded it to my new iPad, and it won't play on it. It tells me it can't be played on this device.

Can anyone help me out here?

iPad, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Same problem (Princess and the Frog downloaded from iTunes as blu ray digital copy and wont play on iPad). Had other digital copies that work on this iPad - this one won't.

Tried erasing, reloading, etc. Currently using iTunes 9.1.1.

Anyone have any thoughts? Would prefer not to have to burn the DVD copy to handbrake and load that way. Seems like these digital copies should work on the iPad.

That's correct for me - It syncs just fine. I can even open the main movie menu on the ipad, see all the movie info, chapters, and everything. Just when I go to play it I get the error "This movie could not be played". I had a similar problem with Wall-E (bought directly from itunes store - not blu ray digital copy). But for whatever reason, that issue resolved itself. Princess and the Frog is locked down, though. I've tried resyncing, syncing manually versus automatically, etc. No Luck. This movie plays fine though itunes on my TV.

Any thoughts?

I also have the problem. I was in Mexico and downloaded The Blind Side movie over the hotel Wi-Fi so I could watch it on the plane home but when I went to watch it, I got a message saying "This movie could not be played". The movie appears to have downloaded correctly. The Chapters were all there as was the summary, but the video would not play.

That didn't work for me. The "create iPad or appletv version" is grayed out when I select the princess and the frog digital copy. Im starting to think that this whole thing is a DRM issue. The weird thing is, i have other Disney DRM protected digital copies that play just fine on this iPad. This particular one doesn't play on the iPhone either. Are some digital copies blocked from playing on mobile devices?

To TNTPayne as well.
Open the movie you are having issue with in iTunes and make sure you do not have "Surround Sound" selected. To do this move the mouse while the movie is playing in "Full Screen" and click on the audio bubble on the little popup control menu and select "Stereo".
I have lots of digital copy movies and if after watching them on my TV that is connected to my Mac Pro, if I leave "Surround Sound" selected they will not play on my iPod Touch or my iPhone.

Hi there,

I have movies on my PC I have downloaded in mostly avi. format (mpeg and wma), I am unable to drag and drop, copy and paste or even go to the advanced menu and create and iPad or Apple TV version of the files I want transfered. I am having a similar problem to the individual who said that the option to create an iPad version is grey and not able to be selected.

In my case, how would I get around the issue?

I did the "Create iPad or Apple TV Version" for several of the movies I have that WILL play in iTunes on my MacBook Pro but will NOT play (or even sync to) my iPad. This resulted in an additional movie file that went from about 1.5GB to a file size of about 100MB. That really caused me some concern over what my picture quality was going to be. But there is no picture at all. I have sound but no picture. What the heck have I done wrong?
