iPad lost WiFi signal everytime i wakes up

HI all,
I just got my iPad Wifi for 2 days, everything works like in heaven except the WiFi problem...
And I am not sure if this is related to the weak signal problem that everyone is having in another thread, the problem that I am having is more related to losing a presistent WiFi connection everytime iPad wakes up from the sleep.

It does not happen with my iPod/iPhone at all. But it is frustrating and idiotic to have to go into setting and press the wifi AP name before I can use the iPad.

Any advice?

All this should not be needed -- I have the 3Gs and the Wi-Fi works perfectly -- no drops, no password requests, it just works. The iPad, on the other hand is horrible.

and for almost all iPad users no "messing around with settings" is needed. I've had zero WiFi problems with my iPad.

Viewing this forum is like visiting a hospital, you don't find many patients who are perfectly healthy.

I guess your point is that since most people are healthy, we shouldn't worry about the ones in the hospital? Dude you probably go to the hospital and tell people that you aren't sick.

I don't know how you got that impression from my post. My point is that one cannot draw a conclusion like, all iPads require "messing around with settings", from the posts on this forum. Most iPads are using WiFi without problems or any changes to settings. Of course, that doesn't mean that some owners aren't having problems; this much is clear from the posts here. Your comment, "Dude you probably go to the hospital and tell people that you aren't sick" is rather thoughtless. I've often tried to offer help and advice to posters here who have reported problems.

Sorry if you are having problems with WiFi but don't assume that everyone else must be having the same problems as well. If you are having specific problems report them (with router details) to Apple. They are supposedly working on some WiFi fix now but I imagine they can use every every bit of detail they can get.

I'm having this problem too. I have to believe that Apple is working on a fix because this is a very annoying problem. I'm using a 2wire wireless router from ATT and using WEP. IPad frequently fails to join the network. I have to copy and paste the hex key in about every other day to rejoin the network, and it often takes 2-3 times to join successfully.

Try switching to WPA or WPA2 security. That has been reported to help.

Same problem for me too, no WiFi at wake up. Even if I load Safari it says the web page cannot load because there is no connection, etc. After some time it tries to connect automatically and manages to do it fine, or brings the dialog box to choose the WiFi connection, which is strange because I always connect to the same. Sometimes I lose the connection completely, whereas my laptop is connected absolutely fine. Renewing the lease sometimes helps, but mostly I need to turn the WiFi on and off. I think Apple should release some fix for this problem soon. iPad is a fantastic device but having these WiFi issues is inexcusable given other devices are working perfectly.

I'm having the same issue even after updating firmware on my router, iPad software is up to date, iPad screen backlight is not set to min, WPA was already enabled and the router is even an Airport Extreme. It is definitely unnerving to sit there for 2 mins (the sleep time I set) and wake it a moment later to have the wifi dropped and not auto reconnecting. Tapping the SSID in wifi networks works fine.
