I've designed a DIY solar charger kit that works with iPhones and iPads (as well as just about any other USB-powered device). It comes with a 5W solar panel with support for up to 10W, a 22Wh battery, and outputs up to 1.5A through two USB ports (so you can charge your iPhone/iPad while also powering a reading light, for instance). The basic kit starts at $120, which is cheaper than the other commercial offerings. It's also Open Source, and as a DIY kit, you can repair/upgrade it yourself (unlike the closed alternatives).

Here is the best deal on a portable pocket sized solar charger for the iPad and iPhone. This panel produces 2 amps of power which is the same as the AC wall charger that comes with the iPad, so in good sunlight the panel will charge your iPad as quickly as the wall charger will.

This panel was made specifically for iPad's to charge them quickly and to fold down to a pocket sized format.

The panel uses 18% efficient solar cells that have a very long lifespan, 20-30 years. The price is right also compared to other options on the market.
