UK Pre-order - "Shipped By" or "Delivered By"??

So, I pre-ordered my iPad, an O2 micro-sim and a case at 12.22am on the 10th May.

I notice my order status says "Estimated shipping by May 28th", so I phoned Apple to enquire as to whether I could expect delivery on the 28th.

The rep told me that some orders show "estimated delivery by May 28th" and some show "estimated shipping by May 28th"

Now, if it means they're not going to ship my iPad before the 28th..then I'm not too pleased!!

So the question is...does anyone in the UK's order status say "delivered by May 28th"??

Well, still no iPad from swisstnt. Although people are friendly and assured it's being delivered today, when I called they told me it didnt even leave the local depot...why? they couldnt say.

They shouldn't take on such a contract if they are not able to handle it. Come'on after iphone the answer "we're just overwhelmed by the quantity of parcels" is not good enough or are some people bilnd in the world? a) they could plan in such a volume and b) it has been forseeable c) they shall not promise what they can't do

More than that, apple did in turn also not make it on their promised delivery date. I know apple can do better than that!

fully agree, this was a pure capacity planning mistake at TNT. If they wouldn't have people with such enormous discipline and willingness for custormer service they would have failed.

I had to personally get my iPad at the Distribution center, although they assured me delivery yesterday in written. At the distcenter there was 1(!) single person who has been shouted at by disgruntled customers. TNT management didn't even place a sidekick there. I have tremendous respect from this person and his willingness to fullfill its duty.

It must be clearly noted, that the TNT distribution was only successful because personnel was going the extra-mile. And NOT the management. However, I am quite sure they will communicate a huge success and say they have done everything right. It's time to walk the talk and accept that most planning mistakes are never discovered because a simple worker has more dedication to a company than the respective supervisor.

I think it was pretty poor. When I phoned Apple they blamed TNT when I spoke to TNT the blamed Apple. So there you go. I think we should all get together and complain - perhaps they'll send us a new iPhone 4G just to say they were so sorry 😉

p.s Enjoy your new toy... :))

p.p.s Btw -whereabouts in Switzerland? We are neighbours - I am next door in Italy 😉

I can only say if two companies blame each other:

1. You can always only blame yourself for not forseeing the situation you are in
2. What the use of fingerpointing outside of your area of responsibility?
3. "When the **** hits the fan, we all get dirty"

They should sit together and do a proper learning session, one feedback is: NEVER let employees blame another company. That is just poison in a relationship.
