YouTube very slow loading--anyone else notice slow loading for YouTube?

I've tried watching various videos on YouTube but loading is very slow.

I've watched the same videos on my iPhone with no loading problems. As a matter of fact, I can watch a video on YouTube on my iPhone while my iPad is still loading it.

Why? Kinda disappointing.

iMac and Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Open DNS uses two numbers...
208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Paste both numbers in to the DNS box. Changing the DNS isn't going to change the way YouTube videos load.

Update seemed to help the YouTube situation. After updating, I actually watched one, before, never, never would load. Connections to other stuff still crappy.

within the last two weeks, i turned on location services, and i noticed youtube was running really slow. netflix was ok. when i turned location services off, youtube seems to be streaming better.

If anyone really wants to try increasing browsing speed via change of DNS, try Google's namebench, a DNS benchmarking tool that finds the best DNS for you based on your geographical location. Statistics shown too.

Anyway, I haven't been experiencing slow downloads, I use a Wi-Fi connection at 100Mbps up, 50Mbps down.

It's not a hardware issue.

While I haven't had any problems with any other video sites, Youtube has been incredibly clunky on Safari. And the SOLUTION I found reveals the culpret.

Download and install the free Chrome browser by Google. Play any video on Youtube and difference is day and night. Not even a studder.

Why?

Beacause Google owns Youtube. And Google wants you to use their browser instead of Safari, Firefox or IE.

It's the same reason Apple is ditching their Google-based iPhone maps app for their own map app. It runs better on Android (also owned by Google) on purpose.

The best I can do is keep using Safari (still my favorite browser) and just copy paste to Chrome anytime there's a Youtube link.
